Hehee, for reasons unknown, I am really happy tonight. I'm finally beginning to beat back the cold I've had for two weeks, and I just had some good food. And my mother has found a garishly pink flamingo, and I have my dog (albeit he is smelly) to cuddle. Heee. Life is good! And I have clean laundry. (Smells like warmth, which helps with the old dog

It didn't help that Hikaru felt this was a pointless exercise.
He wasn't naive enough to believe that he was the first, middle nor last line of defense, no. The village would never leave genin on guard -- there was at least one line of chunin, spaced at regular intervals, at least a mile ahead of him. But hehehe, I mean, fanfic is about indulging, isn't it?
I want to write a serious long story in this verse, because Hikaru, with his unconventional strategies an his keen eye for detail would make a kickass ninja. It's in his very nature to spring surprise tactics, and plans that aren't fully realized until the very end, when the enemy has thought they have won. (His playing style, with all the traps and come behind wins ... TOTALLY SO NINJA).
X3 I'm so happy you like this one!!! XD *hug*

Hehe, I don't think I've released the fic that shows just how the relationship between those two work. It's strange, but I started the series not showing the reader Sai's part of the exchange and it's continued through the series -- it's purely limited to Hikaru's limited POV.
It's been a challenge to work around though, but it's kinda fun too. But the next couple of stories are going to bring back that aspect, and hopefully tie and parallel it to the Hikago Cannon.
