I have just changed the "washer" for the hot water tap of my bathroom basin. It's only been nine weeks since I turned off the water supply to that tap as a temporary stopgap to prevent it from dripping. Why yes, sometimes it does take me a long time to get around to things ( Read more... )

We went through a weevil invasion back in Orlando -- and yeah, nothing quite like finding a weevil in your cooked rice *after* you've eaten nearly your entire serving. O.O

Oh yes. Despite my longstanding interest in all things piratical, I'm very glad I didn't have to go to sea in those days. Weevils in the biscuits are way, way too offputting a thought!

Oh yes, though I think I'd rather have my microscopic dried food guests than your bluebottle invasion. So much easier to get rid of when their roaming range is restricted to the canister they're actually living in.

We had an ants nest tucked away between the bricks and the frame of the front door a few years back, so I feel your pain. Opening the front door to be confronted with a 3 foot by 3 foot enclosed space populated by flying ants was an experience I'd rather not repeat in a hurry.
