Oh man DO YOU KNOW how many books I've been reading? I mean, seriously. I am really enjoying getting into Japanese literature and history (and sociology a bit! My hikikomori book is AMAZING), but woah. How much of that will even get into the story?

I do have a few things to run by you at some point. With reading about the financial problems in Japan and stuff, I have a vague idea about "Kiyomori" marrying his daughters into companies to get them to invest in Japan to help Japan get back to kicking ass, but I am NOT going to touch the details of that because UGH, trying to work that hierarchal structure into something that would actually work for today's companies kind of makes my head hurt. And think of The Firm. (Book, not movie, ahaha. >.>)

Wow that was a lot of typing. XD

I CAN ONLY IMAGINE.

There's always the chance of marrying them off into the government itself to notably weak Diet members and also to newspaper agencies so that he has a better control on both law and media?

I'm all for the plum blossoms, too. When are you thinking of going? I could take you a few places. If not, they're most famous over at Kitano Tenmangu because plums were Sugawara no Michizane's favored flower. There's several varieties there. Also, there's a good selection in Osaka as well at the Osaka Mint, but that only opens at certain times of the viewing season. Pretty much any Tenmangu or shrine dedicated to Michizane will have plums though.

Information on the shrine's flowers are here with a separate page for their plum blossom festival on the 25th here. Access map is here.

Thanks for all the info! Next weekend I'm planning on going to this epic 梅林 here in Wakayama:

But since I'll be in Kyoto anyway, it doesn't hurt to get some extra plum time in XD I'm not really going to be near the kitano tenmangu area but maybe I'll have some free time. Going to see the Hapsburgs exhibit at the Kyoto Nat'l Museum =o

Doesn't Osaka-jo have lots of plums in the gardens around there too?

Next weekend, I'm unfortunately booked. ;; Although wow that place looks pretty. ;3;

Oooh, I saw an advert for that exhibit. When is it going until?

And yes, I believe it does. It's impressive how many plums there are around here. Up in Suita we have a plum viewing area within the old Expo park.
