Resolving the New Year

I have to admit to myself (& hopefully saying it in public will help), that I spend too much time online, much of it reading & commenting on my friends’ LJ entries. Therefore, I’m going to limit my LJ exposure to no more than 2x/week. Today, Tuesday, is one of my tokens used.

Sometimes I'm on the internet everyday, sucking up hours of my time on lj, someitmes, like the last few weeks (ironically, when I've had the most free time and access to a DSL connection), I disappear. As I was explaing to my bf, I use the internet more for things that I can't get in real life, like the spinning community I'm in, and for keeping in touch with long-distance firends.

Anyway, I totally understand about the music thing. My roommate is a bona fide rock snob, and if he thinks something I listen to is sub-par, he doesn't hold back. I understand, however, that it is permissible to love a few of these lesser artists as long as you downgrade them by calling them "guilty pleasures." That's how Mr. Rock Snob-I-read-all-the-important-rock-critics gets away with owning the entire Monkees catalogue. Even the 80's album.

I didn't get so totally sucked into the 'net till we finally got broadband. When that happened, I finally got to look at all the crap that my friends have been sending me, including the infamous "numa-numa" video. That's how this mess began, including my discovery of LJ ( ... )
