Yeah, I know. It was the best explanation I could find online.

The story about Slach Maniot is that traditionally (at least in my community - I was raised conservative jewish in a mostly recent immigrant Jewish neighborhood) we made baskets of food and distributed them to the needy in the neighborhood.

That's neat!

Also hamentashen are delicious. My favorite are the poppyseed ones, though I also like apricot :). The rules about cross dressing are definitely lifted on this day as far as I've always understood.

I've never tried them. Apricot sounds delicious!

The last time I celebrated Purim I dressed up as Haman of Finland. Funniest costume evar (leather chaps, a leather bar vest, chains around my neck, and a three cornered sparkly hat). Yay! Chag Sameach!
