Okay okay okay, the subject line is indeed a joke. I haven't really had any trouble telling apart the days of the week, at least not any moreso than usual

OMG the conference was SO FREAKING GOOD! I was starstruck by some of the panelists. It was like Comic-Con only for opera! We even got to see the premiere of the first scenes of an opera that was supposed to have been workshopped live at the conference but was hastily and rather remarkably made virtual. My mind is so pleasantly full of ideas and hungry to read up on the topics discussed. The only thing that might have made it better is if they'd had librettists (they did apologize for that), since that's really my interest in creating operas, but it was still inspirational and wonderful. I should probably feel bad that I spent half (or more?) of my work day Zooming to Yale. But it cheered me up so much in a week that I really needed some cheer. So thank freaking goodness for that!
successfully sang the first high C(6) in the context of an aria that I've sung in over a decade THIS. IS. AWESOME!!!!!!! That note's such a bugaboo for me. It definitely pops up in mezzo rep, although it's usually a quick slide up and down, just touching it along the way. I'm so excited for your singing! A good teacher can open up things physically in such magical ways.
Oh it's still a bugaboo for me, too, and it's all over soprano rep, so I haven't even tried to learn new things that are too high. But going forward? I don't know that I'll ever be doing Der Hölle Rache, but I always preferred O Zitre Nicht anyway, and that only (only? pssh) goes up to a D. I still gotta put in the work to get my coloratura back, but having Sempre Libera in reach? I haven't dared to dream that for a goodly while.
I'd been told for years that ET is a magical teacher. I'm so glad I took that leap. I know he does virtual lessons, so when I get back into more regular practice (which I hope won't be too long), I will be reaching out.
Have I asked you already if you sing Mahler lieder? I feel like the Knaben Wunderhorn songs would be right up your alley with how they navigate a big range but don't dwell on the high notes. They're so much fun to sing! And also his "Hans und Grethe," which is fab: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_cxsXFpPS4.
I haven't yet, but I really should. *square shoulders* I always think my voice isn't big enough for Mahler, but I'm not gonna be singing it with an orchestra, my voice is just fine.
