Passing this on from elfs. You don't have to understand German to enjoy this Swiss safe-sex site : http://www.lovelife.ch/. I like the options, you get your choice of colour and music to go with it.

I like the artistic conflation of lips and condoms, and last year's poster campaign from the Federal Office of Public Health is truly impressive. Much ( Read more... )

That "No hubba-hubba" song gave me a pain in the testicles.

I do love the 'no action without protection' images though, very clever.

In 2004, 92% of those diagnosed in New Zealand with heterosexually-acquired HIV were infected overseas. These figures are influenced by the fact that New Zealand has been one of the few countries in the world to take HIV positive refugees, and that the presence of HIV was not previously an automatic barrier to immigration. However, in November 2005 New Zealand’s immigration laws changed and it is now much harder for HIV positive people wishing to stay longer than 12 months to enter the country.

There's also a recent press release (Aug 2007) about climbing rates of HIV amongst queer men, due to some behaviour change. There's plenty of information on the site about HIV for everyone. The focus on queers is partly historical (The Aids Foundation was set up in 1985, when it was a queer problem) and partly because the largest segment of New Zealand HIV Pos people are still queer men (gay or bi).

In 2005 MSM (men who have sex with men) comprised 83% of all new HIV diagnoses reported in New Zealand where the actual infection took place ( ... )

Yeah, I understand why it has been focussed that way, but I believe the focus needs to change. Worldwide in 2006 for example, there were over twice as many women who were HIV positive than there were men, the majority being neither gay nor drug users

Therefore, I feel the the fact that none of the promotional campaigns the NZ AIDS Foundation have on their web site are targeted at women, gay or not, is a major failing, especially given the following from the UNAIDS report of 2006 : Ending the AIDS pandemic will depend largely on changing the social norms, attitudes and behaviours that contribute to its expansion.
One of those attitudes that needs to change is that AIDS is primarily prevalent among gay males, because worldwide, it demonstrably isn't.
