My front street *is* busy, so I can understand why they called. If I were in their shoes though I'd have said something to the mom "Hey, do you know your kid is out here?" or something, you know? I certainly wouldn't stake the kid out from across the street. And I wouldn't make up lies about the kid being spanked.

cps is iffy, i've called to report people and they grill you. if it isn't a bad enough story they flat out tell you. they PROMPT you as two what you need to say.

I don't think I have to worry too much about CPS. I'm usually right ontop of these things & theres evidence of that all over the house. They can ask Roland if I spank him, they can ask the next door neighbour if she's *ever* seen the kids out in the yard alone, if she's *ever* seen me spank them. Theres preschool, parent & tot, and my La Leche League leader. The fridge & cupboards are always stocked, if the kids look dirty when they show up it will be obvious that it's fresh grime. The only thing I can think of that they could possibly complain about is that I'm not the most wonderful housekeeper in the world (and I can be for a few weeks) My house at it's worst isn't health hazzard dirty, either.
