I got tired of trying to upload all of the pictures from our trip to French Lick to my LJ Gallery, so I decided to create an Easy Share Gallery to make it possible for anyone who is interested to see ALL of the pictures in one shot. There are 194 pictures in all, not counting the camera phone ones that I had already posted. You have seen about ten ( Read more... )

I can't put into words just how beautiful West Baden is! I'm amazed and so impressed!

I just went through all of your posts trying to find out where this place is, and I can't find where you mentioned exactly where you were going!

Where did you go exactly? LOL (sorry)

It's located way down in southern Indiana... well past Bloomington...sort of out in the middle of nowhere. The main town is called French Lick. (I know... odd) Larry Bird the basketball player was from there. Then a mile down the road is West Baden. It was a VERY famous area in the 1900s and up until during the depression. Then it went rapidly downhill. The town was actually in bad financial trouble until Mr. Cook took over fixing up the hotels. Hopefully they will be MUCH better off now. He gave over 10,000 local people jobs!

I am glad that you enjoyed the pictures!

Yes our room was inside the atrium. Remember the pictures of me on the balcony and the ones we took from the balcony? It was great!

We saw one deer but many tracks! I am sure that we would have seen many more if we had been outside more at night.

I'm trying to remember what we ate at the restaurant... but my brain won't work!
I had some YUMMY scallops in a really good sauce and with asparagus. Robert had some kind of pork dish that was really, really good too. The dishes included vegetables..
I also had a chocolate cake-like thing for dessert that had whipped stuff between layers. It was really pretty and good though it fell over when I was eating it! *hee* Right now I can't recall what else... but there was lots more! The menu was based on food from Northern Italy.

I'm so glad that the card got to you okay. We had to go to the post office in French Lick to mail it special but that was fun! The post office was old and fun to see.
