His hands found Todd's body before his eyes did.
Sitting up...dark eyes went wide with horror as he just stared at the bare outline of his fiancee's body.

"I can't stop it... I'm trying, it's not working." He reached out toward his lover desperately.
He seemed solid as ever despite looking as translucent and fragile as a soap bubble. He was also cold, cold as air.
"I'm not going anywhere, I'm not. I'm not leaving you." He fiercely said as he clung on, the lion still trying to roar.

Instead, he sat in the bed and held Todd against him, stroking his hands through hair he knew was there, even though he couldn't see it. No tears fell, Neil was dry for the time being, having shed almost all of them the night before.
Gradually, his rich mercurial voice rumbled softly in Todd's ear.
"It's all right, Todd...don't worry."
It was anything but all right. Todd was getting worse, then had a vague idea of what was wrong but no concrete answers, there was nothing Neil could do except... wait.
Wait...on people he didn't trust.
The lanky youth simply stared at the wall and continued to softly gentle the anxious lion in his arms and while his body was warm in contrast to Todd's cold flesh, his soul felt as brittle as ice.

He was still here, he could feel Neil holding him close. Feel hands stroking his hair, feel his warm breath at his ear.
"I can't not worry, Neil. I can't stop this. Isn't there something, ANYTHING that can be done?"
