Finish-a-thon voting!

Aug 16, 2008 11:48

Here is the voting for the finish-a-thon 2008! There are 21 participants this year.

Voting is now CLOSED.

Each participant has a list of plot-bunnies to vote for. Following that are two polls for each participant. The first poll is for anyone to vote in; the second poll is an extra vote for participants. You cannot vote in the second poll unless you are a member of multific and a participant.

Participants:
1) Can vote in all polls. You don't have to choose the same thing for your "extra" vote as for your initial vote. You don't even have to fill out your extra vote if you loathe the idea.
2) For the polls about your own bunnies, click on the "I am the author" option.

Everyone else:
1) Vote in only the first poll for each participant.
2) If you accidentally vote in the second poll when you shouldn't have, click on the "I am not a participant" option.

If you make a mistake, click on the link above the poll that says "Poll #NNNNN", then click on the link that says "Fill out poll", and you will then be able to correct your mistake by filling out the poll again.

I CANNOT CORRECT YOUR MISTAKES FOR YOU. The security of the polls do not allow me to alter any of the votes. As it should be!

Voting will finish at midnight GMT, on the 23rd of August; that's a week from now.

The following are the plot-bunnies which AstroGirl astrogirl2 has put up for voting:

(1)
Fandom: Doctor Who
Description: AU from the TV movie in which the Master succeeds in taking over the Doctor's body, but the Doctor's mind is still in there somewhere.
Type: I was going to say this one'd be gen, but it seems likely to at least have slashy overtones.
Rating: Um... PGish? PG-13, maybe?

(2)
Fandom: Doctor Who
Description: AU in which the Doctor succeeds in curing the Master's crazy and then wishes he hadn't. A short piece of pure angst.
Type: Probably gen.
Rating: PG-ish.

(3)
Fandom: Doctor Who
Description: An expansion of the drabble to be found at http://astrogirl2.livejournal.com/338028.html, only with the Eighth Doctor subsititued for the Ninth. Basically, an Eight/Leela encounter that takes place immediately before the destruction of Gallifrey. I've actually got most of this written, but it needs finishing and probably a lot of editing.
Type: het
Rating: PG-ish for some violent content. Will contain kissing but no sex.

(4)
Fandom: Farscape
Description: Rygel is de-aged to a tadpole. Expansion of this silly little snippet.
Type: gen
Rating: Probably G

The following are the plot-bunnies which Azar azarsuerte has put up for voting:

(1)
Fandom: Heroes/Mysterious Ways
Description: "Wrestling With Machiavelli"
Even Declan's faith in miracles is put to the test when he discovers he was adopted...and that his birth family is the Petrelli clan, identical twin to Nathan. What purpose could Angela have possibly had for separating her twin sons, what does it have to do with Peter, and why is Miranda's father so determined to undermine those plans--what does he hope to accomplish by bringing the brothers back together? Originally started for the whackapetrelli challenge, but considering the deadline passed almost two years ago? I don't consider it "for" the challenge anymore. *wry grin* (For those not familiar with Mysterious Ways, it was Adrian Pasdar's last TV series before Heroes)
Already at over 10,000 words, but I'm seriously debating throwing most of it out and starting over so I'm committing to 10,000 (mostly new) words or completion, whichever comes first.
Type: het--a little Declan/Miranda and Nathan/Heidi
Rating: PG-13 at worst

(2)
Fandom: Babylon 5/Stargate Atlantis
Description: An AU version of part/most/all (not sure yet) of B5 season 1 as it might have played out had Elizabeth, not Sinclair, been put in charge of the station by the Minbari. Not because I hate Sinclair (I *really* don't) but because there are just enough similarities and differences between him and Elizabeth to pique my curiosity. *g*
I've written two scenes, at which point I promptly got stuck. Again, committing to 10,000 or completion, whichever comes first.
Type: het and/or slash--possible Sheppard/Weir and Weir/Susan
Rating: no idea

(3)
Fandom: Babylon 5
Description: Delenn told a story in "Confessions and Lamentations," about an encounter with/vision of Valen she had as a child. This is the story of that encounter from Valen/Sinclair's POV. (See? Told you I didn't hate him. ;-) )
Started. This one will probably be shorter than the other two, so I'll definitely complete it if chosen.
Type: gen
Rating: probably PG at worst

(4)
Fandom: Doctor Who/The Chronicles of Narnia
Description: Set post-"Journey's End": while chasing a dragon-like alien loose in 1950s England, the Doctor meets and gains the assistance of a young woman named Susan Pevensie, whom he subsequently invites to travel with him. It doesn't take long for the Doctor and Susan to realize that both of them identify a little too closely with each other's demons--together can they start to lay some of those demons to rest and find their way home? The whole thing sprang out of an image of Susan being spectacularly unimpressed with the TARDIS because her sister "once found an entire country in the back of a wardrobe."
Mostly just in my head at this point, although there's one scene I have written and re-written a few times (the one I mention above).
Type: gen
Rating: PG at worst

(5)
Fandom: Torchwood
Description: "Five New Year's Resolutions Torchwood Couldn't Keep"
See above. Basically one NYR per character, all AU because I started writing it before S2 started and promptly got Jossed.
I've got one of the five NYRs written and another started. Will complete, as I don't think it'll run THAT long. *g*
Type: het and slash (hey, it's Torchwood!)
Rating: NO idea

The following are the plot-bunnies which Caro Dee carodee has put up for voting:

(1)
Fandom: The Sentinel
Description: Sequel to Sleeper, The Rig tag, where Jim and Blair had shower room sex and Jim realized he didn't really know Blair. The sequel would be Blair's POV and Blair is definitely not who Jim thinks he is. Possibly a Warriors tag. Not exactly canon characterization.
Type: slash

The following are the plot-bunnies which Delwyn del_writes has put up for voting:

(1)
Fandom: Anita Blake
Description: This is pretty much a mystery, more in the vein of the earlier books. So, serial killers, magic, and vampire and werecritter politics more than sex and relationships. Set sometime after Incubus Dreams.
Type: I'd call it basically gen, though there are definitely het elements based on the canon relationships and slashy subtext consistent with the books.
Rating: R

(2)
Fandom: Stargate: SG-1/Stargate: Atlantis
Description: This is a massive AU where the Ori successfully invade Earth while some of the SGC manages to escape to Atlantis. This covers more than 4 years in the life of Atlantis.
Type: The relationships are secondary to the plot but there are both het and slash pairings.
Rating: PG-13 to a soft R

(3)
Fandom: Moonlight

Type: Het with some fairly heavy slashy subtext

The following are the plot-bunnies which Gray Cardinal graycardinal has put up for voting:

(1)
Fandom: Shakespeare/Muppets
Description: "A Midsummer Day's Nightmare"
Oberon's straying again. Kermit's overseeing a Muppet Theater production of "Midsummer Night's Dream". Titania casts a spell....
This was first conceived as a response to two different Yuletide NYR requests -- but Yuletide discourages crossovers and the relevant NYR deadline sailed long ago. About 3200 words so far; Act III, Scene 2 has just started.
Snippet
Shrugging, Kermit put down his pen; the prop budget would wait. As he poked his head through the curtain, Miss Piggy was waving a cowboy hat and declaiming, "Come, now! A roundup and a fairy song, then add the third part in a minute. Fence! Some kill the bankers in the muskrat beds, some war with Batman for his leather wings...."
Type: gen (veering slightly into het)
Rating: PG

(2)
Fandom: Jackie Chan Adventures/Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego?
Description: "Here There Be Dragons"
The world's greatest thief steals the jade carving of Shendu from Section 13 -- without realizing just what she's got hold of.
I think I started this long enough ago that Carmen was still on the air, and bogged down two and a half chapters in -- around 4600 words of what I'd guesstimate at a 25K-word plot.
Snippet
Uncle's two-fingered rap landed on Tohru's elbow, that being as high as the old man could easily reach. "Perhaps pigs will fly!"
There was a pregnant pause while the rest of the group pointedly didn't remind him that where talisman magic was involved, pigs occasionally did fly. "All right, bad example!"
Type: gen
Rating: PG

(3)
Fandom: Kim Possible/Power Rangers (fusion)
Description: "The Claws That Cuddle"
Three beautilicious Power Rangers save Middleton from DNAmy's Cuddle Creatures while Kim Possible & Ron save the world from bigger threats. That is, till Kim decides the Rangers need some help....
I have a bunch of unfinished Kim Possible projects hanging fire over on FF.Net, but so far this actually isn't one of them. Rather, what I have is the first chapter of a story I started awhile back after watching a couple of less-than-stellar attempts at KP/PR fusions go by on the update screens. (From what I've seen, most of the existing fusions basically port the KP characters into the Rangerverse; I decided it made more sense to insert Ranger continuity into the KP milieu.) First chapter (about 2700 words) written, of a purely guesstimated 10-12.
Snippet
"Yes, well," retorted Kim, "the Rangers only need those zords when DNAmy grandé-sizes her Cuddle Creatures."
"True," said Ron. "And Bueno Nacho should sue her for infringing their grandé-sizing trademarks. But as long as she can make super-giant cuddly monsters, it's a good thing we have beautilicious Power Rangers around to kick super-giant cuddly booty."
The beginnings of a frown were forming on Kim's face. "Earth to Ron, enough with the beautilicious Power Rangers already. I'll bet you none of them know sixteen kinds of kung fu...."
Type: gen
Rating: PG

(4)
Fandom: Sky High
Description: "Fire and Sleet and Candlelight"
The product of one dysfunctional upbringing falls hard for a girl who's had two dysfunctional childhoods in a row. Will the result be happiness -- or catastrophic tragedy?
This exists so far purely in brief synopsis form. As written, it's likely to be decidedly dark as compared to the movie (although not without comic relief), and would almost certainly be the longest of any of the stories on this list -- I may not finish in this timeframe, but if this one's picked I'll certainly commit to at least 10K of wordage by deadline.
Type: het (Warren/Gwen)
Rating: At least PG13, very possibly R.

(Inspired by chapter 2 of the Gospel of Mark.)

Case story, set about 3 years post-series. With Blair¿s Sentinel research carefully and legally buried, he and Jim are free to live normal lives, working as cop and consultant for the Cascade PD. But when a kidnapping case begins to smell of bioterrorism and a bright neurologist seeks out Blair¿s help, they may have to accept that nothing stays a secret forever. I'll commit to at least the 10,000 words.
Type: gen
Rating: R (language, violence, disturbing images)

(5)
Fandom: Numb3rs/The Sentinel
Description: "A Net Cast Forth"
Set a few weeks after the season 2 Numb3rs finale (AU for current canon), and in my Sentinel futureverse. The murder of a federal agent leads Don¿s team to a former Army Ranger who tangled with this particular assassin in the past: Captain James Ellison. Sentinel and Guide come to L.A. to help, but even that response may be manipulated. Can the teams trust each other?

A semi-comic, semi-serious rip-off of the Indiana Jones movies, starring the fab four from the West Wing. CJ Cregg as the intrepid adventurer, Toby Ziegler as her reluctant companion, Sam Seaborn as the naively adventurous journalist who tags along and Josh Lyman as (I haven't worked out this dynamic yet!) either the 'damsel' in distress or the 'native' guide. (2)
Fandom: Shakespeare, the Henry Plays
Description: "My Day of Trouble"
Prince Hal / Henry Scroop of Masham. I'm not going to write it all in blank verse, but I will either try to make the language resonate somewhat with Shakespeare's, or give up entirely on that and try to make it clear and timeless.
Type: slash
Rating: R or NC-17.

(3)
Fandom: LOTR Hobbitfic
Description: "Mim's Wooing"
Merimas Brandybuck (from the family trees) falls in love with Peridot Took (OFC) while they are in the Lockholes during the Year of Troubles. After that year he comes to visit her. Scenes from his visit will alternate with scenes in the Lockholes.

Fandom: Numb3rs

An AU, set in Minoan Crete, where Don, Captain of the Palace Guard, and his brother Charlie, brilliant architect-mathematician, must determine the safety of several important buildings and catch the saboteur undermining them. Or something. I haven't quite settled the plot as yet.
Type: Right now, het-and-slash flavored gen, I think. No Don/Charlie in this one.
Rating: PG, maybe PG-13.

That proves impossible as Avon shuts himself down to prevent himself from hurting if he loses anyone else he cares about.
Type: slash
Rating: NC-17

Type: slash

The following are the plot-bunnies which Zenia blakefancier has put up for voting:

(1)
Fandom: Blakes 7
Description: Post-Star One AU--Blake and Avon are stranded on a planet known only as Hell. While waiting for rescue, Blake gives himself to Avon as an apology. At first, Avon resists this form of expiation, but eventually gives in to his baser desires. What evolves is a strange dom/sub relationship involving sex, verbal humilation, begging, and Avon drawing computer code and math equations on Blake's skin.
Type: Slash
Rating: NC-17

(2)
Fandom: Blakes 7
Description: The blind Blake story where he becomes Orac's lover and Avon is pining for Blake but it never happens because Blake falls in love with Orac. Perhaps there is even an android body in Orac's future because you can only have brainsex for so long before you want to bump bodies.
Type: Slash? Dunno, Orac's a box.
Rating: R

(3)
Fandom: Blakes 7
Description: That Blake/Zen fic that I keep playing with but haven't seriously worked on yet. Mostly it's Zen courting Blake and how their relationship affects the others.
