I can answer the 1st question:

Claire "rebooted" in season 1 when the stick was removed from the back of her head. Peter did as well when Claire removed the glass shard from the same place. In the intense heat of a place burning down, glass can and does melt...and thus, Sylar survived, using Claire's healing ability.

This means that Arthur possibly survived as well.

Yeah but don't you think anything hot enough to melt glass would've burned him all up before the glass was gone from the wound? He was facedown after all, it would've had to melt and pour through him before it got past that special place which likely wouldn't be there anymore to heal him.

Unfortunately, we do not know the full extent of that ability, nor of Sylar's strength. Alledgedly, Claire should have burned to death as an infant, to the point where she, too, wouldn't have been able to come back, and we don't know everything that Adam was subjected to all those centuries before Arthur completely took away his power.

And it did occur to me as I was later pondering this question that "someone" could have found him and removed the glass. There were other baddies in Primatech. We only knew of level five, where the worst of the worst were kept, but they only hinted at other cells on other levels...and the online comic suggested that there were more than one runaway baddie that saw Sylar as a hero.

I guess it could be a question asked of the creators during another session of "Behind the Eclipse", or we could be left to wonder....still, pondering the endless possiblities is fun.

New Behind the Eclipse...we will find out how Sylar survived. Maybe I'm right, maybe I'm wrong.
