After another long road trip and some hijinx involving a boat the weary band of travelers from Fandomhigh set foot on Ellis island.
Jamie looked up at the statue to where he saw some kind of apparatus fashioned up on the torch. "Okay. I don't suppose any of us can fly?"
"I've been working on lifting stuff magically but so far I still have problems whenever I try to move something as heavy as a desk," Willow said. "So unless you mean hovering a few feet off the ground and then crashing back down again... no."
Bel scowled. Just over a week ago he could've shimmered up there to help Marie. He hated feeling this helpless.
Phoebe looked around and then made a comment under her breath. This was going to be tricky.
Zuko scowled at Jamie. "Do I look like an airbender?"
"No," Jamie shot back, having no idea what Zuko was talking about, "but you should definitely get bent."
"Sure. I'll show you firebending," Zuko offered, stepping forward.
That wasn't a pouty look Bel was shooting toward Zuko.
Peter rolled his eyes at both Zuko and Jamie. "We're here to get Marie, remember? Not to fight each other?"
"I can do both," Zuko assured Peter with a sneer.
"I'm unsurprised," Peter replied, frowning. "Doesn't mean you should."
Phoebe looked at them both. "Guys?" There was a lot of tension going around and she didn't want supposed teammates to fight, too. "We're all on the same side."
"I haven't forgotten," Jamie said for once looking serious. "Fireboy's the one with the attitude."
Lana just looked nervous. "I just want to get Marie and get out of here."
Phoebe nodded, standing close to Lana. "That's what we came to do, rescue our friend. We rescue Marie, and we go home. Then the guys can settle whatever it is they have going."
"Fine. Let's do that then," Zuko agreed, already taking a step towards the building.
"Easy Zuk," Jamie said as the group entered the museum area of the island. "We don't want to let anyone know we're here just yet."
"I'd say it is a little too late for that," said a gravelly voice as Magneto and his cadre of mutants stepped out from the shadows. "You're not quite the people I were expecting but I doubt that'll be of much consequence."Just then bright lights shined through the windows and the sound of helicopters were heard. "Attention Brotherhood of Mutants! This is S.H.I.E.L.D! Surrender now!"
"Gee, looks like someone called in the big guns" Jamie said looking chipper. "So how about you just give us Marie now and we'll just get out of your way before your but gets kicked."
Magneto sneered and rose above the floor to fly outside. "I'll handle S.H.I.E.L.D. Kill the children," he ordered.
The bad guys all shared a grin with each other and went after the kids as Magneto flew off to the sounds of mass destruction outside.
Zuko automatically fell into his fighting stance as he ran into Pyro. "If you're smart, you'll get out of the way," he warned.
Pyro laughed and flicked on his lighter, creating a fireball. "If you're smart, you'll turn around and run crying back to your mommy," he sneered.
Zuko's patience had definitely run out and he wasn't about to wait for Pyro to get the first shot. Punching the air, Zuko sent a fireball at Pyro.
Quickly extinguishing his own fire, Pyro caught the fireball Zuko sent at him and made it grow into a larger fire before throwing it back. "Well, well," he remarked. "Isn't this going to be interesting."
Bringing up his arms, Zuko dispersed the flame but he still got pushed back because of the impact. "You talk too much," he growled and moved forward, sending a volley of flames at Pyro with every step.
Pyro easily re-directed the fire away from him, scorching a wall in the process. "What's the matter?" he smirked. "Am I distracting you?" He clicked his lighter on again and threw another wave of fire at Zuko.
Zuko rolled onto the ground, ducking the flame. As he landed on his back, he kicked both feet at Pyro, sending a powerful flame towards his legs.
The flames licked at Pyro's ankles, but he extinguished them immediately, not giving them a chance to burn him as he clicked his lighter to stay on and walked towards Zuko, throwing a fireball with every step.
Pushing off from the ground, Zuko landed smoothly on his feet. There was something strange about the way Pyro manipulated the fire, but there wasn't much time to think.
Ducking the volley of fireballs, he still managed to get closer and nourishing a flame in the palm of his hand, he tried to hit Pyro in the face.
"Oh, you want to play nasty?" Pyro asked as the blow landed and knocked him off balance. He flicked on the lighter in his left glove and threw increasingly bigger flames at Zuko from both hands.
Still close, the flames hit Zuko squarely in the chest. The impact sent him staggering back, knocking the wind out of him long enough to make firebending impossible. His eyes flickered dangerously as he kept ducking the flames Pyro was throwing at him, but it was finally making sense. "You can't create fire, can you?"
"I don't need to create it, I can manipulate it," Pyro sneered, making the flames he was throwing at Zuko larger.
"We'll see about that," Zuko growled, deciding to opt of a different tactic as his fire attack seemed to have no results. He ducked and rolled forward, making a quick sweep with his leg at Pyro's to bring him off balance.
Pyro wasn't expecting that attack and stumbled backwards, shooting flames up toward the the ceiling.
Not giving him time to regain his balance, Zuko jumped forward and grabbed Pyro's right wrist, trying to wrestle off the lighter.
"What the hell are you doing?" Pyro exclaimed, struggling to keep Zuko from pulling his glove off.
"Playing nasty," Zuko hissed and kicked at Pyro's shin while yanking on the lighter hard, not caring much if Pyro's hand came off with it.
"Fuck," Pyro groaned, his leg giving out and causing him to fall to one knee as Zuko managed to get his right glove off. He tried to steady himself and lift his left hand up to create more flames.
Zuko narrowly dodged the flames. He closed his fist around the glove he'd pulled off, melting the lighter so it was useless. "One down," he said, letting it fall to the ground.
Pyro struggled back to his feet, throwing more flames at Zuko, but it was clear they were weaker.
His mind set on getting the second glove, Zuko dodged the flames and barreled right into Pyro while grabbing hold of his left wrist.
Pyro tried unsuccessfully to yank his arm out of Zuko's grasp.
Determined not to let go, Zuko shifted his grip until his palm was over the lighter in Pyro's hand. As the lighter started to melt, Zuko met Pyro's eyes in challenge. "Do you still don't need to be able to create?"
"Fuck you," Pyro spit on Zuko. "I can still control any fire you throw at me."
His fingers tightened around Pyro's wrist and he didn't so much as flinch. "I don't need fire to kill you," he promised and brought his knee up hard.
The knee caught Pyro squarely in the stomach and he doubled over, gasping for breath.
Zuko brought his fist down on the back of Pyro's head, watching him crumple on to the ground, unconscious. Wiping off his face with his sleeve, Zuko might have kicked Pyro in the ribs before moving on.
*thwip*
Bel and Phoebe might have heard a sound overhead almost like the crack of a whip.
Bel blinked. "What the hell was that?"
Phoebe looked around in confusion.
"I don't know."
Without warning a form plummeted from the ceiling, dropping between them and lashing out with both feet.
If they'd had the time to look carefully enough, they might realize the figure was suspended by its own very long, disgusting, prehensile tongue.
Bel jumped back and pulled out his gun. He hadn't told Phoebe he was bringing it along, but there it was. Whatever this freak was, he was going down.
The fact that Cole had brought the gun -- knowing how she felt about them -- was something she'd deal with later.
When she was kicked out at, she used her cheerleader training to flip out of the way of whomever had just lashed out.
Just as quickly as it had dropped, the figure recoiled up and out of sight again, only to leap out at them from a side wall a split second later.
Bel didn't waste any time. He took aim and fired off a few shots.
There was that whip-cracking sound again, and a few drops of mucus that sprayed down at Bel as the figure shot upward as if pulled, but at an impossible angle given the direction from which he'd leaped at them.
And, infuriatingly, they would hear a snicker as he passed overhead.
"Nimble little son of a bitch," Bel muttered under his breath. He made sure Phoebe was safe and wiped whatever it was that had sprayed down on him off his face, then tried to target Toad again.
If Toad didn't try to target him first -- he lashed out with his tongue, trying to knock the gun from Bel's hand.
The gun was indeed knocked from Bel's hand and went skittering along the ground. Never did Bel want a fireball more than now. "Think you're so tough with your...tongue?" he yelled. "Come over here and fight me."
Toad was more than happy to oblige, dropping from the ceiling straight down at Bel.
Bel waited until he was in range, then aimed a punch at Toad's jaw while simultaneously ducking out of the way.
The punch clipped Toad pretty well, even though he tried to twist out of Bel's reach. Undeterred, he hit the ground, did a backflip, and tried to lash out at Phoebe with his tongue.
"Phoebe, look out!" Bel shouted. He launched himself at Toad, trying to tackle him to the ground.
Toad tried to whip his tongue toward Bel instead, but fell a few feet short and was tackled solidly.
At least he got mucus all over Bel in the process.
That? Was disgusting. Bel was definitely going to need a shower afterwards. And it made things slippery as he tried to straddle Toad and rain punches down on his head.
It certainly made things slippery, as Toad wriggled and tried to get out from underneath Bel. As it was, at least half of Bel's punches connected.
Twisting again, Toad tried to let his tongue dart out toward Bel's eyes in an attempt to force him back.
Bel had to give up trying to throttle Toad in order to protect his eyes from the mucus on Toad's tongue. He tried to get a grip on the tongue. If only he was strong enough to rip it out of his damn mouth.
If only Toad's tongue let him get enough of a grasp to do that, which it didn't.
He tried again to wriggle free, or at least bring up a knee and target Bel in a very painful spot.
Human or not, Bel knew how to protect that area. He rolled off Toad, trying to scramble to his feet and kick him while he was still down.
Toad's tongue wrapped around Bel's ankle and gave it a good yank.
Bel struggled to keep his balance, but he fell flat on his back.
Toad took advantage of the moment's respite to fling copious quantities of mucus at both Bel and Phoebe, before darting down the hall toward an open doorway.
Why did he have to get the disgusting ones? Bel made sure Phoebe was okay, then raced after Toad.
Toad was clinging to the wall of the generator room, just above the open doorway he'd come through, waiting for Bel. As soon as he caught sight of Bel, he shot his tongue out toward a metal chair that sat in one corner of the room, seizing it and flinging it at his target.
Bel threw up his arms to protect himself. This was going to leave a mark. The chair hit him, then bounced off into the generator, sending up a spray of sparks.
Unmindful of the telltale crackling sound that kept coming from the generator, Toad leaped down from the wall and tried, again, to tackle Bel.
Bel was knocked flat on his back again by Toad. He rolled with him, trying to wrestle him beneath him, but he couldn't get enough of a grip. So he drew up his legs and tried to forcibly kick Toad off him.
Toad absorbed the impact of the kick, but shot his tongue out to snag a metal conduit in the ceiling at the same time.
He yo-yoed, dangling there, for a very vulnerable moment.
A moment Bel was more than happy to take advantage of. Bel took careful aim with his feet and kicked again as hard as he could.
Toad swung straight back -- into the exposed guts of the generator, his eyes wide, electricity crackling grotesquely up his tongue, which was now essentially fried to the conduit overhead.
Bel wearily watched Toad fry. He got to his feet, satisfied that Toad was dealt with, and headed back to make sure Phoebe was okay.
Phoebe was picking herself up from out of some debris and scrubbing at the slimy stuff that seemed to be everywhere. When she heard Cole approaching, her eyes roamed over him, searching for injuries.
"Okay, this guy is possibly a demon," Willow said. "On the other hand? There's few things knives won't kill."
"I thought he was a mutant," Peter replied, loosening his sword and not really caring what the strict definition of the person was.
"Sometimes my mental game is my strongest part," Willow explained. "Demons I've dealt with before."
Sabretooth snarled menacingly at the teenagers.
"You don't scare me," Willow said, though her ability to say it convincingly was a little on the soft side.
Sabretooth, not convinced, lifted an arm to show off his razor sharp claws.
"I feel a need to warn you that I'm a very powerful witch," Willow said.
Sabretooth growled in response, clearly unimpressed. He bared his teeth, which were also very razor-like.
"He's not much of a conversationalist, is he," Peter commented to Willow, his hand loosely on his swordhilt.
"What are the odds that he'll go down if we play the right music?" Willow replied.
"Not very good," Sabretooth answered before swinging both arms at them.
Willow eeped and tried to dive out of the way.
Of course she wasn't as fast as Sabretooth.
Peter moved to jump between Willow and Sabertooth, sword at the ready.
Sabretooth lunged at Peter, swinging his arm again, this time attempting to knock his sword away.
"Peter, look out!" Willow shouted. She looked around for something that could be used as a weapon.
Peter, who couldn't help but notice the massive man coming towards him, hoped Willow's warning meant she wasn't going to try to fight too.
He pulled his sword in close and spun out of the way of Sabretooth's lunge, probably leaving himself open for the next attack.
Sabretooth growled as he jumped after Peter, reaching to grab him by the shoulders.
Peter winced as the claws closed on his shoulders and quickly tried to reverse his sword to stab at the creature behind him.
Sabretooth roared angrily as the sword cut into his arm. He dug his claws into Peter's shoulders before tossing him in the opposite direction. It probably wouldn't be a soft landing.
His first instinct was to try to turn the throw into a roll, but that completely failed as Peter bounced off the wall to land hard on the stone. He took a second just to catch him breath and feel if all his bones were still in one piece.
"You messed with my boyfriend!" Willow shouted, not at all pleased. Fueled by her anger, a very large rock went flying directly towards Sabertooth's face.
Sabretooth managed to move his head out of the way of the flying object, though he wasn't quick enough to completely dodge it. He grunted as it hit his shoulder, knocking him back slightly. The abrasion caused by the rock was already beginning to heal.
Willow eeped as she saw the healing. "Okay, that can't be good."
After a few more seconds of healing, Sabretooth began stalking toward the girl.
Willow scrambled backwards. Her hand brushed against a stick.
She was a Sunnydale girl. Wood always equaled weapon in her mind.
Of course Sabretooth wasn't a vampire, but that didn't mean she couldn't try.
She grabbed the stick and threw it, aiming high and far.
"Fetch!"
This time, Sabretooth wasn't able to protect his face from being hit. It didn't do much damage, though it did distract him momentarily.
Shaking off the fall, Peter jumped back to his feet and closed again with Sabretooth, trying to utilise the longer reach of his sword to slash at him once more.
Sabretooth, still distracted, was caught off guard by Peter's sword and the slashing the followed. Once again, he stumbled back.
Peter followed up on Sabretooth's stumble backwards with high feint than a thrust towards his midsection.
Sabretooth wasn't quick enough to dodge the sword as his previous wounds hadn't quite finished healing. He growled as the sword cut into him once again.
Staying on his toes and trying not to show dismay at the speed that Sabretooth was healing, Peter attacked again, his sword flying.
Sabretooth was once again stabbed with the sword. This time, when he stumbled back, he unknowingly ended up closer to the edge of the building.
Willow concentrated, and tried to see if she could use her powers to knock Sabretooth off-balance.
Willow's powers, combined with the wounds that were still in the process of healing, were enough to cause Sabretooth to begin to lose his balance.
As Sabretooth was seemingly pushed off balance, Peter calcuated quickly and, hoping that more severe wounds would take longer to heal, spun around and slicing Sabretooth across the throat causing him to fall through a window and outside.
Jamie looked over at the other side and pointed. "Hey! That guy looks like me only older!"Madrox looked over at the other side and pointed. "Hey! That guy looks like me only younger!"
"Did you just say the same thing I said only different?" Jamie asked."Did you just say the same thing I said only different?" Madrox asked.
"Weeeeeeeeeeird" Jamie said tilting his head."Weeeeeeeeeeird" Madrox said tilting his head.
Jamie shook his head and tried to size up his older doppleganger.Madrox shook his head and tried to size up his younger doppleganger.
"64!" Jamie yelled out for apparently no reason."64!" Madrox yelled out for apparently no reason.
"Fine! Can you do this?" Jamie asked as he began to make duplicates."Fine! Can you do this?" Madrox asked as he began to make duplicates.
As Jamie began to duplicate to match his doppleganger's duplicates one of them freaked out. "We can't fight ourselves! It's too many! We'll all die!"
And the duplicate turned tail and ran
Madrox gave Jamie a smirk. "What's the matter? Can't handle the competition?
Almost two weeks of worrying and now having to deal with an evil version of himself? That was the last straw. "You're going down asshole."
The army of Jamies rushed in with a vengeance.
Madrox was doing his best but slowly but surely he was getting beaten back. He only grinned at Jamie. "You think you can stop me pretty boy? All I have to do is make more. You can't stop all of us."
Only problem with fighting a version of yourself? Is knowing when he's right. Unless...
"Oh yeah? Try this on for size."
Jamie raised his arms up and concentrated.
Madrox watched his younger doppleganger in amazement. "What the hell are you doing?"
Jamie concentrated harder and slowly but surely the duplicates began to be absorbed into himself.
That is... all the duplicates of his older counterpart.
Madrox would have tried to retaliate the same way but there were too many of the other duplicates going kung fu and karate on his ass.
When he was on the floor and a bloody pulp he looked up at Jamie. "Martial Arts? Absorbing other dupes? How do you know all this crap?"
"It's easy," Jamie sneered. "I go to Fandom High. Bitch."
And before his counterpart could say another word, Jamie absorbed him and turned to see if there was anyone he could help.
Marie heard the sounds of fighting and wondered if someone was there that might be able to help her.
"Help!" she screamed. "I'm up here!"
Lana heard Marie scream and spun around to try and figure out where the sounds was coming from. Then she looked around to see if there was anyone free to help.
But there was no one. She was the only one not fighting. The only one hiding. Marie yelled again and Lana gathered up all her courage, clutching her bag with taser tightly to her. She glanced around one more time, then took off up the stairs, following the sound.
Not sure if anyone heard her screams, Marie was struggling against her bonds. She was regretting not playing the kidnapee in Xander's workshop over the summer.
"Help!" she shouted again as she heard footsteps on the stairs.
Lana took the last few stairs at a rush, and all but skidded around the corner into the room where Marie was being held. "Marie, thank God!"
She dropped down to her knees and started working at the knots. "Are you okay? We've all been so scared. I mean, of course you're not okay, but..." She looked up into Marie's eyes. "Are you, you know, okay?"
"I don't know," Marie admitted, tears of relief streaming down her face. "I'm most definitely glad to see you."
The sounds of fighting were impossible to miss. "Who's with you?"
"Everybody," Lana said, her fingers working away on the knots. "Like half the school everyone. Jamie, of course, and Bel and Phoebe..."
She got one of Marie's hands free and went to work on the other. "Peter, Willow, Zuko. I think that's all of us."
Marie reached down with her free hand to start untying her legs. "Good, we can just get Bel to shimmer us all out then," Marie said.
Lana winced. "Not going to happen," she said. "Bel's sort of... human right now. No shimmering."
She finished releasing Marie's other hand and started helping with her legs. "But the others are all smart. They'll find us a way out. The important thing is that we found you." She wasn't sure how reassuring she sounded, but she was certainly trying.
As soon as Marie was free, she stood up and gave Lana a careful hug. "Let's go see if we can help the others and get out of here."
Lana hugged her back just as carefully and nodded, gathering up her bag again. "They were down here," she said, pointing to the stairs.
A split second after Lana spoke, a woman was blocking the stairs. "Going somewhere?" she asked.
Lana's throat went dry and she froze, then reached out to shove Marie behind her. "We're leaving," she said, her voice shakier than she would have liked, but trying to look brave and determined.
Callisto laughed. "Go ahead and try," she said, stepping to the side and gesturing to the stairs.
Marie glared at her. "I told you my friends would show up to save me," she said, nudging Lana forward a little.
Lana swallowed hard and started toward the steps. Somehow she had the feeling it wouldn't be that easy.
Callisto waited until the girls were just at the top of the steps and then used her super speed to get between them and the steps. "Don't think so," she said.
Oh, this was bad. This was very bad. But maybe if she distracted her long enough Marie could get away. She took a deep breath, then dropped her bag to the side and got into the fighting stance Lex had taught her. "Get out of here, Marie," she said quietly.
Marie rolled her eyes and started pulling off a glove. There was no way she was letting Lana do this alone.
Callisto laughed at them.
She used her super speed to whiz behind Marie and knock her down before whizzing back in front of Lana.
Lana darted in and aimed a fairly decent roundhouse kick at the woman. "Just let us go!"
Callisto dodged the kick easily, whizzing behind Lana. "Ooh, you're a tough girl," she taunted.
Lana spun around. She knew she didn't stand a chance, but if she could just distract her long enough for Marie to get down the stairs...
She struck out quickly, punching from the shoulder and putting the full weight of her body behind it the way she'd been taught.
Callisto stepped to her right and let Lana's punches hit air.
While the girl was off balance, she darted in close and punched Lana's stomach.
Marie saw Lana get hit just as she managed to get her glove off. Now all she needed to do was get close enough to touch Callisto and drain some of her power.
Lana staggered backward, doubled over and gasping for breath. She barely kept herself upright, but she did remember to keep her hands up to block another blow.
Callisto aimed a kick at Lana's shoulder.
Lana cried out as the kick connected, spinning her around and knocking her to the ground. Somehow she managed to get back on her feet, but she was pretty sure her shoulder was messed up badly. She swung at the woman with her good arm, hoping for a lucky shot, but very much afraid that this was where it was all going to end.
When Marie saw Lana hit the ground, she got pissed. Callisto's attention was on Lana and Marie managed to get up next to her. Placing her bare hand on the woman's arm, she braced herself against the onslaught of memories and feelings that began pouring into her.
Callisto staggered back and managed to pull her arm out of Marie's grasp, but it was too late, the damage had been done. She leaned weakly against the wall.
Lana's head cleared enough to remember the taser in her purse. She scrabbled for it, dumping half the contents of the bag onto the floor, then ran forward and tasered the woman, hoping desperately that it would do something.
The electricity coursing through her body weakened Callisto even further and she slipped into unconsciousness as her body convulsed, the metal stud under her lip glowing for a brief moment.
Marie let out a sigh of relief when Lana zapped Callisto with the taser. Her head was still swimming a bit from the absorption, but she managed to shove her gloves in her pocket. "Come on, let's go see if the others need our help."
Lana nodded, panting from the exertion and cradling her left arm. "Down the stairs and to the left," she said and started down as quickly as she could manage. "You okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," Marie said as they got to the bottom of the steps.
At which point Marie would have found herself beneath a monkey pile of Jamies who just tackled her.
"OMG!"
"YOU'RE OK!"
"I'VE MISSED YOU SO MUCH!"
"MISS ME?!"
"OKRA SUCKS!"
"Jamie!" Marie exclaimed, trying to hug them all.
"How lovely. Young love," said a voice dripping with sarcasm. Magneto stepped into the room and brushed some dust off his shoulder. "Doomed of course but still young love."
Phoebe looked from Jamie to the helmeted guy and then back to Jamie.
"Who's the old guy?"
They had their friend and now she wanted to get out of here.
"Ten bucks says he starts doing a monologue," Willow whispered back to Phoebe.
"You're on," Phoebe whispered back to her friend.
"I do hope you've had fun until this point, children," Magneto started. "But now is when we stop playing games."
"Good call," Peter murmured to Willow. He glanced at the helmeted man. "No, this is when we take our friend and leave."
"Be careful," Marie whispered. "He controls metal and he's a class four mutant. Those are very rare."
"Any hope we can zap him into a little ball and only bring him out when we're trying to trap class three mutants?" Willow asked.
"Actually, Will? Now would be a good time for you and Phoebe to start working on that spell I told you about," Jamie said grimly as he stepped forward along with most of his duplicates. "The rest of us will keep him distracted."
"You got it!" Willow said, and went to join Phoebe to get ready.
"A spell, Mr. Madrox?" Magneto chuckled. "I see your loss of age has also made you lose your senses."
Zuko clenched his fists, flames escaping his hands. "Can we shut him up now?" he asked, eager to get to the asskicking.
"I know enough to smell bullshit when someone is full of it," Jamie said turning towards Magneto. "Gosh Mags. In my dimension you would have sacrificed yourself for the cause instead of chickening out and using a teenage girl as martyr."
Jamie knew he was baiting him but that was kind of the point. He made a motion and all his dupes started charging at Magneto.
Magneto's expression grew grim, and he prepared for the assault of Jamies by pulling forth a series of bolts and wires from around him, flinging them through the air with deadly velocity.
The wires and bolts hit all the Jamies, of course creating more Jamies but also driving him back. "Everyone take cover!"
Zuko ducked and rolled forward, ignoring the bolts he failed to dodge. When he came up again, he punched a flame at Magneto.
Magneto dodged backwards, pulling a trashcan from nearby as a shield between himself and Zuko's flame. He smirked, and with a flick of his wrist, a scale model replica of the Statue came flying at Zuko's head, the sharp points of the crown glistening in the light.
He was toying with them, and he knew it.
Too intent on his target, Zuko noticed the statue coming flying at him too late. He dodged sideways, but one of the sharp points still grazed his shoulder.
Bel, meanwhile, was sneaking up behind Magneto. He wasn't stupid enough to try to use his gun after Marie's warning about Magneto's powers, but he still had it stuffed in his pants. A good solid punch to the back of the neck, under the helmet, should take the old guy down, right?
Poor ex-demon. Not too bright.
"Foolhardy," Magneto said, pulling up rebar from the cement beneath Bel's feet, forcing it against the ex-demon's limbs and using the force to pin him against a wall.
Thankfully for Bel, Magneto wasn't pinning the rebar through his flesh. However, with another flick of the wrist, the gun lifted from where Bel had stashed it, and the barrel was trying to force its way into Bel's mouth.
"Very foolhardy."
Bel instinctively tried to shimmer, but of course he couldn't. So he remained still, not that he had much choice between the rebar pinning him at the gun in his face.
Phoebe looked over at the fight and bit back a cry when she saw what was happening to Cole. She swalowed hard and turned back to Willow.
"He is going to be so damn sorry."
"Put it in your magic," Willow advised her. She started gathering her powers together to do the spell.
Phoebe nodded and did what Willow suggested. Her powers did tend to feed off of her emotions and feelings.
Marie knew instinctively that they needed to distract Magneto long enough for Willow and Phoebe's spell to work.
Using the powers she temporarily picked up from Callisto, she darted over to Bel and pulled the gun out of his mouth before darting back over in front of Magneto, holding the gun on him.
Magneto chuckled.
Then ejected the clip from the gun with another subtle gesture.
"You do realize that all you are succeeding in is killing your friends, do you not?"
"You do realize that if anyone is getting killed here tonight it's you?" Marie said, tossing the gun aside and holding up her bare hands.
"Willow?! Phoebe?!" Jamie yelled out. "Now would be a good time for you know what!"
Willow didn't reply, since why give Magneto more warning? Instead she let her magic do the talking and activated her part of the spell.
Phoebe also didn't want to say anything, and followed Willow's lead and silently activated her part of the spell.
He was so screwed.
Magneto shook his head at Marie and attempted to tear more rebar up from out of the concrete.
It... didn't work. He tried again, concentrating harder.
And the rebar he had earlier been using to pin Bel flew back at him, giving him almost no time to duck out of the way, but he still managed it.
"Teenagers," he grumbled.
Phoebe looked triumphantly at Willow. "We did it!"
Bel, meanwhile, crashed to the ground, now that he was no longer being held up by the rebar.
Phoebe ran over to help get Cole off of the ground.
"The odds are a little more even now, love." She glared at Magneto. "You took Marie. You took our friend. That's simply not allowed."
"You prattle as if I am to fear you, child," Magneto said. He concentrated again, and the bolts and wire he'd been so recklessly flinging before whipped back at him. He barely had time to protect his face with his arms as the metal slashed his outfit and skin.
"Well, well, well," said a voice behind Magneto. "Looks like the master of magnetism can't handle his little powers. Gosh. I wonder how someone can take advantage of that."
Jamie looked up to see that the duplicate who had run away had returned.
And when he noticed a S.H.I.E.L.D firebomb strapped to his chest, Jamie realized just who that duplicate was.
"RUN! EVERYONE RUN! NOW!"
"Awww. Jamie? You take away all my fun," the evil version of himself chuckled.
And then pressed the detonator triggering a massive explosion.
Running could only get them so far before the flames would catch up with them.
"Get behind me," Zuko shouted as he stopped and turned to face the flames. Holding up his arms, he dispersed the wall of fire enough to leave a relatively safe area right behind him.Everyone ran for it as Zuko cleared a path for them out of the fire. They kept running until they were a safe distance from everything before they watched the Statue of Liberty burst into flames.
When the dust finally settled a fancy black plane hovered and landed in the background. A group of people wearing black leather outfits exited the plane and surveyed the destruction with a look of "WTF?" on their faces.
"You kids shouldn't be here!" said the guy with the ruby visor.
Jamie rolled his eyes. "Jeez, Scott. Are you a prick in every dimension?"
The guy with the stubble and weird hairstyle chuckled at the comment.
Marie was clinging to Jamie pretty tightly, but she couldn't help but notice the guy who was chuckling was kind of cute.
"You know," Willow said, "I've learned something today."
"What's that, Will?" Marie said as she let go of Jamie long enough to give Willow a hug.
"That Gideon Sundback is the guy who invented the zipper as we know it today," Willow replied, hugging Marie back. She then gave a sheepish look. "I net surf when I'm nervous pre-battle."When everyone from FH had finished laughing and everyone clad in leather was finished going "WTF?" again, the kids were herded onto the jet where they were taken back to the X-mansion for a very long explanation of what had happened.
And possibly pie.
