Yay! So much fun! One of my previous lawyer-bosses was pretty dead set against drug testing. He used to do his darndest to make sure our employees wouldn't have to be tested when they worked on our customer's sites.
Heh. Sounds like an adventure. I've never been random drug-tested, which is totally a shame since I would have the cleanest, nicest possible wee. Unless I ate a poppy-seed bagel...Mythbusters proved that poppy seeds absolutely show up as opiates. So, seriously, stay away from the poppy seeds. Straight-edge? Really? Do you have the crazy tattoos and stuff? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straight_edge
That's probably just a trick of the mind...There's not enough opiate in poppy seeds to affect you. I mean, they're still food, and your tummy can't hold enough at once to get you high. Especially when there is a bagel involved. Codeine, which is changed in the liver to the active metabolite, morphine, shows up on drug tests, but the amount is far, far too low to get you high. I mean, consider: no addict has ever held up a bakery to demand poppy bread. That just does not occur.

Hah, that is just great. I can see Samuel L. Jackson in Tarantino's next movie.
"Give me all the poppy seed bagels and coffee cake!"
I agree it's improbable for someone to feel poppy seeds getting them high. I would guess they are either believing too hard or they are having an allergic reaction. The mind is a powerful thing, but it is not the same thing.
