Castle’s Notes - as edited by Beckett

Observations On Kate Beckett Richard Castle

• Does not like being called Katie His name can be shortened to ‘Dick’.
• Stares at something really intently when she can’t figure out the answer Stares at every hot woman who walks into the room and thinks they don’t notice. For the record: they do.
• Drinks too much coffee
• Can’t use the coffee machine Thinks he’s so clever for being able to use a machine that 15 year olds get paid minimum wage to use.
• Doesn’t like being wrong Knows Beckett is always right.
• Looks good in almost everything she wears See point two.

Beckett
I thought I should let you know I’m in a sex store, picking up my stripper costume for when I become Nikki Heat.

Castle
You have no idea how hot that is.

Beckett
I’d hate to be cliché and go with the police uniform, so do you think she’s more of a sexy nurse or a dominatrix?

Castle
Please tell me you’re actually buying a stripper outfit.

Beckett
;-)

Castle
Which sex store are you at?

Beckett
Starbucks.

Castle
You know, green aprons work too, when you’re not wearing anything else.

Beckett
Goodnight Castle.

I’ll have you know Detective Beckett, my family are perfectly normal.

PS. Why are you at the office so early?

While some of us might have nothing better to do than play laser tag, others have murders to solve.

Also coffee would be appreciated.

Kate Beckett’s Diary Entry

I don’t write in here much anymore, but I feel the need to talk to someone. I’m being stalked, professionally, by my favorite author. I guess I should be honored, even though he is one of the most irritating people I have ever worked with. He doesn’t listen to anything I say, yet he acts like he’s my partner. Always coming up with these crazy ideas about cases.

The thing is, a lot of the time, he’s right. And to make things worse, I actually kind of enjoy his company.

I don’t understand. He is exactly the kind of person I don’t like, yet he makes me laugh on a daily basis and his crazy theories entertain me. Not that I’d let him know that.

I guess the reason I’m writing in here is because I did something strange today. I told him about my mother’s case, and about my father’s alcoholism. I don’t know why. I’ve been trying my hardest to hide my past from him, to hide who I really am, because I know whatever I tell him is going to end up in his Nikki Heat book.

But somehow he knew that there was something, or maybe he was just guessing, either way he has incredibly good instincts about people. So I told him.

It’s not something I talk about. Of course everybody at work knows, but I think this is the first time I actually told someone specifically what happened without it being necessary.

I just feel like he could be a really good friend. He’s easy to talk to, and he doesn’t worry about offending me. I guess with him I know what I’m getting and there’s no tip toeing around the truth, no secret agendas. I feel more comfortable around him than I have around anyone in years.

Castle
You know, I just realised something.

Beckett
Congratulations.

Castle
Don’t you want to know what it is?

Beckett
Not particularly.

Castle
You’re ruining all the fun.

Beckett
And you are ruining my peaceful evening.

Castle
Which you are only enjoying because of what I did.

Beckett
OK, Castle, you’ve officially lost me.

Castle
I saved your life.

Beckett
And by that you mean Nikki Heat, right? Because I don’t remember that happening.

Castle
When that guy was shooting at us. I saw him first, and I saved you.

Castle
I take your silence to mean that you know I'm right.

Beckett
I was just trying to count how many times I’ve saved your ass.

Castle
Let me help you with that one - never.

Beckett
I was thinking more like ‘once a week’.

Castle
Name one.

Castle
Castle: 1, Beckett: 0

It was Castle’s idea, and it’s work related. Ryan and Esposito will be there too.

Beckett
Just for the record, now we’re even.

Castle
I don’t know, when I saved your life, I didn’t get a free dinner out of it.

Beckett
Last I heard it costs $3000 to have dinner with you.

Castle
Hey, that was your fault for telling my mother where we were going.

Beckett
Best mistake I ever made.

Castle
After letting me follow you around.

Beckett
No, that was the worst mistake I ever made.

Castle
Ouch. That’s the thanks I get for dinner?

Beckett
