Aoi Tori wo Sagashite

I watched the honkouen of "Aoi Tori wo Sagashite" tonight.  What a cute show!  I'm embarrassed to admit that this is actually my first Komu/Maa-chan show (and I'm not sure if it technically counts since it was also a Tom show).  Somehow I've managed to miss out on a lot of pre-Mizu yukigumi >.>  This may need to be corrected.

The performances were ( Read more... )

asami hikaru, todoroki yuu, yukigumi, maikaze rira, otozuki kei, aoi tori wo sagashite, osaka samurai, reimei no kaze, review, ryoma-den, takashiro kei, shirahane yuri

She actually received organs from Tom's dead mother, who was an organ donor.

Yes, I had *just* studied organ donation vocabulary words in my Japanese class before ending up buying this DVD. *laughs* Glad it came to good use... and not in a scary way.

THANK YOU.

I kept on hearing the word "recipient" and I knew there was something at the beginning about something of Tom's mother's going to a stranger who Tom would never be able to meet, and I don't know how I somehow thought it was her soul/a reincarnation thing. I guess that's what happens in a show where you have talking bluebirds XD

Oooh, I loved that show so much :))) I had actually been given a ticket to the very middle of the very first row in Tokyo ;) I think I haven't laughed so hard in AGES!

And the blue bird called Piiko-chan? Priceless :)

How lucky!

And yes, this definitely had me rolling on the floor at points, especially during the strobe light sequences XD

Kimu's character is one of my all time favourite takarazuka characters, especially coupled with Komu's.

Kimu...needs to be a girl more often XD

She does. But I also think that Takarazuka needs more tomboy musumeyaku roles.

Well, yes ;)

I think this time the sting of putting an otokoyaku in a female role was offset by the fact that Brenda was such a great role. When you already have a nibante musumeyaku role that's show-stealing, it doesn't seem as bad to throw in an otokoyaku for the third female character (does that make any sense?)

*raises hand* Me too ^^;

You know, I'd initially bought the DVD just for the revue, but the play really grew on me. Of course, I didn't much understand why Vincent was being all beaten up, but I remember reading some old review somewhere so the ending wasn't too "WTF?!" once I'd watched it. It was really good to see a range of scenes, from really touching to really cracktastic hilarity XD

Who would have known that she is just at talented at playing ditzy roles too?
*Definitely* Tonami was one of the most hilarious things ever~! And with dorky, devoted Kashige at her side <33 And that birthday scene is a perfect example of how touching yet cracktastic the whole show is XDDD

And you know, Tom with lingerie. And that marching band. And Kimu~! With Komu~! And kinda evil Hamako with bully Kitarou!

I'm stopping now ^^; I think I might go watch it again~

I think that was my favorite scene <33333 That, and the "let's all run around like crazy while the strobe light is one" scene XD

I'm tempted to as well XD I have the shinko as well, so I think that's going to be the next thing I'll watch.

This show is one of my favourites! It's also the one which made me wish that there were more comedic musumeyaku roles, since Tonami was so awesome. Also, much love for when Kimu picks up Komu. So many good things in this show! Have you watched 'Takarazuka Dream Kingdom' yet? It's one of my favourite revues.

YES, definitely.

This made me think back to Singin' in the Rain, and how both times they cast an otokoyaku as Lina, since a musumeyaku trying to play Lina would be too close to well, a typical musumeyaku in some cases ^^; But as much as I love Micchan's performance as Lina, watching Brenda in Aoi Tori makes me wonder which musumeyaku could have played Lina Lamont :/

Also, much love for when Kimu picks up Komu.

YES XD

Alas, I recorded my copy from Sky Stage last year, and they were only showing the first half at the time. I'm curious to see the "Takarazuka Dream Kingdom" half now, as I hear there is an epic amount of slash.

(I'm not one for offstage slash pairings most of the time as I feel it's a violation of privacy, but onstage it's very shiny indeed <3)
