Do you agree with the Federal Government's proposals for an Englishtest and a test of Australian values before migrants will be givencitizenship? Yes
( Read more... )
How many responses were there? (As in number of people responding.) The "I don't care" response seems tiny, which is unusual and implies, at least to me, that this is more likely to have a low number of respondants and be a little like the Voteline in the Herald Sun in that only a certain kind of person responds.
I would like the general populace to have to go through this test if we are making immigrants do it... it would be funny if they same demographic that called for this type of thing failed the test... if people think its a way to keep "terrorists" and "people who take our jobs" out of the country well both groups of people tend to be hard working and/or educated so if we are talking paranoia then it will be these people that will subsume the middle class in this country and with the widening middle the poor dub ass rednecks will find themselves relegated to the lower rungs of society...
That's very cool, provided we apply the same test to everyone who is already an Australian citizen. That way, when 80% of them fail both the 'values' bit and the whole speaking of English (which no one seems to able to do).....well, then there will be a whole lot more bandwidth for the rest ; )

Where is the big pineapple?
I very much doubt a question like that would be on the test.
But it seems people making a very outrageous claims means that the idea is stupid? How about we wait to see whats on the test, and how does that question have ANYTHING to do with values in Australia?
And as a note all Australian born people do ethics and citizenship in Australian schools (it is even an assessable part of the curriculum), so it makes sense that people coming into the country who wish to be naturalised do the same? (Teacher voice on now)
