LJI 10.0, Introduction
I began writing entries for LJ Idol in season 8, and looking back, I think that very first prompt shaped how I would view the competition. What was the prompt? When You Pray, Move Your FeetNow, just on the face of it, that topic had the potential to really scare the crap out of you as a writer. I mean, would you ( Read more... )

I'd forgotten that Seaon 8 was your debut as well!

Boy, that first topic... not a great one for an agnostic, let me tell you!

Yup, good old season 8. :)

Hahaha, for me too, but that's one of the reasons I liked it, I had to think outside my usual bubble.

So we started the same year? How about that!

I was wondering if you were going to get an entry in for week 0, lol... here's to lasting until Christmas! (baby steps)

Candy, of course we started in the same year! You were my inspiration to finally get off my butt and enter, remember? *grin*

Wondering if I'd submit an entry? HMPH! Oh ye of little faith. Not only did I write an entry well ahead of time, I voted on November 8 too--although it's true my candidate didn't win. *sigh* I figure though, it was good practice for the upcoming Idol ballots. :)

It's funny how sometimes our commitment can take a dive in subsequent seasons. I'd entered briefly under alt accounts (it may have just been one alt, I can't remember) after season 7, but I believe I pretty much always dropped out before getting voted out, because my heart wasn't in it to make the commitment, and that's why I don't really even remember those times. The first two seasons when I made more of a commitment are definitely more memorable.

Exactly! I think you have to know and plan for the writing time going in, at least if you're as slow a writer as I am. :)

Here's hoping we both stay committed!

I find I can be more committed to the writing when I also have time to engage with other people in the community. To get to know them through their entries and comments. That was one of the major differences for me, why I didn't stick to it so well. I'm hoping I'll have more time for that side of it this time as well.

Thank you very much! Introductions are always hard to write, which perhaps is why Gary usually doesn't make them count. LOL
