It's far longer than the lifespan of millions of species of plant and animal, even if it seems only the blink of an eye to thousands of others, and it's immeasurably, insignificantly short in the lifespan of any kind of cosmic body

Beautifully written, honest and heartfelt. I feel much the same way about my mate of - wait for it - 42 years!

Even so, we have a lot less experience with relationships, including our own, so I can't lay claim to any lofty wisdom just because of longevity.

Congratulations to both of you for supporting each other through thick and thin, sturm und drang. It's what gives good relationships depth and richness.
