Shikamaru is heading back towards the dorms after a few successful hours of stargazing when he comes across what looks like something out of the ninja academy's upper level courses....well, either that or one of the Chuunin training courses.
"Eh? When did this get here?"

The first thing that Kodas noticed was that it was dark. The second thing he noticed was his complete and utter lack of weapons. Not even a single plasma grenade was on his person.

The Sangheili clacked his mandibles in annoyance and a little apprehension. Kodas knew his decision to come to Moska U was impulsive, and it might prove to be reckless. However, he knew that if the Elites were to follow the Arbiter and fight alongside with the humans, he must learn to trust them. Not an easy task, but there was four years to be spent in this place.

Kodas noticed movement next to the strange construct out in the middle of the open. Erring on the side of caution, he activated his camouflage and creeped towards the source of motion.

Gai noticed the time and ran to the park from where he had been doing his after workout stretches. This obstacle course seemed YOUTHFULLY Intriguing. He spotted the other teacher he had been talking to about it and loped over to him dropping almost immediately into a pose."GOOD EVENING! I am ready to attempt this YOUTHFUL obstacle course of yours!" He says enthusiastically, flashing the man a blinding smile.

((If John doesn't cry (and he won't), I think I will for him. ;_; XD))

John looked over to the other teacher and had to resist the urge to flinch. He suddenly wished the head mistress hadn't taken his armor from him; even though it was more a defensive issue usually, currently all he wanted was the secrecy behind his helmet. Without the armor John was usually in his dress blacks around the campus, but tonight he was in much more useful attire: fatigue colored sweats. But he really, really wanted his armor currently.

John simply nodded at fellow teacher. "You might want to take a few moments to look the course over. It is a maze so if you mess up you won't make it to the goal." He pointed to the silver bell hanging in the distance. "For boots normally there would be winners and losers, but there's no need for that here. We'll simply run through it a few times." John paused. "At least, that was my personal intention. You may do as you like."

'This looks like... an obstacle course?' Kodas was now officially intrigued. It looked quite primitive, but at the same time, it was elegant. Not to mention, it looked to be very effective to agility training without risking the lives of students.

He looked around cautiously. There. Three humans were standing around the construct, one being quite a distance away from the other two. They each looked normal, and yet one of them was tall. Abnormally tall. Kodas went on high alert; he only knew of a few humans who were that size. Demons. Spartans.

He slowly moved forward.

John glance around his surroundings one last time before he went to move towards the start of the obstacle course. He was about to step forward when, out of the corner of his eye, the Spartan glimpsed the familiar haze of active camouflage. He remained calm, but suddenly his entire body was on high alert.

John scanned the horizon one more time, looking as natural as possible. He let his eyes linger near the area where he had spotted the shimmer, but not directly at nor too close to the exact spot. He didn't want to alert the Elite, if that's truly what it was, that it had been spotted. Then he waited for it to move again.

Kodas ignored the other humans; they didn't matter. He had to stop the demon before he got too far into the course. There were far too many things that could be used as makeshift weapons.

Kodas didn't really want to fight humans. That's why he was here at the university, right? But he had to stop this demon. Kodas leaped through the air.

John's only problem once he entered the obstacle course was to decide what to use as a weapon. The Spartan could think of several things to use, but which one would actually prove the most useful? He contemplated it the entire two seconds it took for him to hop onto the first platform and run its thirty meter length ( ... )

Kodas saw the demon turn and face him with a makeshift staff. He growled to himself in frustration. The human had evened the odds somewhat.

Still moving toward the unarmored Spartan, Kodas' mind raced through his options, settling on one. As he approached his enemy, Kodas jumped forward and dove into the ground, rolling. He measured the distance such that his strong, hoofed feet slammed into the demon's shins. Kodas began to rise as the human started to fall, grabbing onto the staff and moving his weight forward to force the human down into the ground with the weight of a full grown Sangheili on top of him.

The Chief didn't have time to decide whether or not to warn the other human now running this way, the Elite was upon him quickly. At least through the attack Master Chief had the advantage of being able to see the Elite clearly rather than half-guess. For once the Chief's reflexes weren't quite quick enough, but his brain was one step ahead of the Elite despite this ( ... )

John thought about offering to shake the Elite's hand, but it was an awkward enough gesture for him as it was--the Spartan didn't even want to try it with the two-thumbed Elite. Then he thought about saluting, but that was thrown out the second he thought it. He didn't salute civilians (except by accident and that was only Dr. Halsey) and he assuredly was not going to salute an enemy Elite.

His thought process reaching its end, John opted for the easiest solution. "Honor sounds good enough to me," he spoke softly. "But rest assured I will be keeping an eye on you. And I will use any means necessary to protect the students here." He looked the SpecOps warrior directly in the eye.

Kodas returned the Spartan's stare, not hesitating for a second as he replied, "That makes two of us." He then switched on his active camouflage while simultaneously dropping the staff and leaping off of the platform. Landing gracefully, the Sangheili darted out of the obstacle course and into the darkness.

John watched the Elite even as the camouflage covered it and it raced off into the darkness. Only when the Elite was finally out of sight did the Spartan relax. He glanced at the pole still in his hand and then threw it into the ground. The shaft quivered a moment before settling embedded into the ground with the sharp end a full yard under the dirt.

John surveyed his hand-made obstacle course and shook his head. He just wasn't in the mood anymore. Nor did he feel like taking the time to un-make the course. As the Spartan began to walk off towards the dorm he suddenly remembered the other two people.

"Do as you please," he said simply, turning to face them only briefly. He didn't even care what their faces held as far as reactions to the sudden bout. He just turned to leave them to guess.
