Tsuzuki knew that name, but that didn't mean he'd been expecting to hear it. It took him a moment to figure out where the voice was coming from, but he knew he'd found the right hallway when he spotted a tiny girl with long black hair. The shinigami grinned. Linali. It couldn't be anybody else! "Linali!" He called out, lifting his hand to wave at her. He didn't want to come running up before she knew he wouldn't hurt her. From the sound of the sobs she wasn't feeling very well already.

She didn't bother moving. Who knew who else they'd sent in trying to get her to resume her training, telling her it was her duty to God and humanity, whispering behind their hands how sad it was that a child had to go through this, how she wouldn't live long enough to enjoy life. Her blood had started to drip on the floor now, and she watched it with disinterest.

Tsuzuki's eyes went wide when he noticed that blood. He rushed over right away, touching her shoulder a he passed to stand in front of her. "You're bleeding." He looked genuinely concerned. The shinigami reached out and cupped her tiny hands in his. "I'm going to get you all fixed up, okay?"

"Let me go home." Linali's eyes were dark when she focused them on his face; she'd never seen this person before and he wasn't telling her to get up or lecturing her. "Please, my brother..."

Of course. Asato had disappeared. Why was he not surprised. He was always running away from one thing or another, himself included. That was how the two of them had met in the first place. Tsuzuki had run from the truth about himself. Never accepting, that was Asato. Eventually he would learn, or so his subconscious self hoped.

Linali was seriously worried now. She hadn't heard from her partner in days and when she went by his room, he wasn't there. The strange other voice she'd heard had her stomach in knots as she made her way across campus, wondering just where Tsuzuki could be. The sight of the miniature version made her stop in her tracks, and start to make her way towards him. "Tsuzuki..."

Tsuzuki slowly turned around, eying Linali. Despite looking like he was ten years old, the child's eyes were almost sadistic. He'd seen far more than any child ever could, regardless of the horrors they'd lived through. "You... you're that girl that Asato was talking to. His "partner" or so he says." A smirk slowly crept onto the child's face. Just the thought of this woman thinking she was on equal footing with his older self was comical.

"I am his partner," Linali answered, now approaching him far more carefully. What on earth was the matter with this kid? "Who are you? I'm assuming you're Tsuzuki in the past, but you're nothing like him."
