It was entirely too early for someone to be knocking on his door. Granted, Kaito was a light sleeper, and he knew how to function on very little sleep. But he still didn't appreciate early morning visitors in his dorm room.

Especially when they happened to show up without calling first.

The magician's morning was further ruined when he opened the door to find one smug, blond and British detective standing there with a confident smirk decorating his features. What the heck was Hakuba up to now?

"What?" he asked flatly.

Kaito rolled his eyes again, his hand moving to rest on the door, as if he were about to close it. He didn't, though. Not yet.

"I'm answering them truthfully. Not like I have a choice," he grinned, "Is this another one of Ichihara-san's tricks?"

So that was a 'yes'. "I did not ask if you were answering them truthfully, Kuroba. I asked if you were avoiding their full import. Can you tell me the Kaitou Kid's civilian identity?"

Kaito's grin faded. Hakuba was picking up on his dodging of the questions. If he kept this up for too long, it wouldn't matter if he didn't answer with definitive 'yes' or 'no' answers. Hakuba would know, just based on how avoidant he was being.

He needed something to interrupt this conversation, and quickly.

"... whether I know Kaitou Kid's civilian identity," he started slowly as he stared at Hakuba with nothing but defiance in his expression, "Is none of your business."
