I'm glad RTD has had a plan for the regeneration for a long time -- maybe it'll prevent some of his usual Big Epic Mess syndrome. (I love the man, but he does Epic badly.) He said in his book that he knew Ten's last words, and there were even some signs that they edited that email to make it "what his last words could be" rather than "what his last words will be," or something like that (would have to look up reference), so I've had the feeling that he's had this planned for a while, and that it was always going to happen during his tenure as producer. Whatever happens, I think I'll probably be satisfied with it. If S4 hadn't ended as it did (with Donna, most particularly, but certain aspects of Rose's departure as well), I think I'd be ready to let Ten go. As it is... not quite as much, but at least we've had time to prepare.
It's awfully annoying that we're having to go from Easter to Christmas without a thing, though. They could've done quarterly specials and not left a big gap, and we wouldn't all feel so deprived! Even if

Yeah, I mistrust RTD's attempts to fix things. He shouldn't break 'em to begin with (a few different lines in Doomsday would have improved it vastly, and ditto JE, though from reading his book he did recognize the latter as problematic and do his best to fix it. But, dude, if your fix-its need fix-its you're not thinking clearly).
Still, if Donna got to live and remember being awesome (and that really shouldn't be too much to ask; it really pains me to think she was left worse off after JE than after TRB), I think I'd be happy about it.
Is it wrong that I'm secretly hoping that Donna'll be there when Ten regenerates? And that she'll tell Eleven to drink more milk and eat his veggies (I know, I'm horrid - but it'd be fun!)?
Well, at least it doesn't see that a rumored plot won't be taking place, as Moffat did not have need to be apprised of the rest of the script - just the regeneration details, so here's hoping.

There was some rumor about a Halloween special, but this appears to put the kabosh on that.
