miles and minutes melt into nothing

My weekend road trippin' added up to 955.2 miles and 410 iPod songs. Holy hell, that's a lot! But so worth it.

The main reason for my journey was to see Julia Murney perform have delayed Thanksgiving with my parents. The bonus reason was to see Julia perform at Western Michigan University. Not gonna lie, I actually pushed my trip back a weekend to ( Read more... )

I always enjoy living vicariously through your Julia stories, and even more so this time, as I have had a horrible few days. Thanks for all the details.

Also, thanks for being a good Julia fan - someone who doesn't freak her out, so she's aware we aren't all crazy fangirls!

I would like to assume I don't freak her out seeing as she hugged me. lol But it is kinda weird to be seeing her multiple times over the past couple months 'cause that's really unusual.

Speaking if crazy fans though ... There was one guy there on Saturday that had a few people on alert. From conversation snippets I overheard, it sounded like Julia was gonna be brave and meet him but he left before she had the chance to. Not being leaving a folder with the pianist that had some drawings or something in it (I couldn't exactly see all the contents).

That's....not pleasant to hear....hm....at least people were paying attention and keeping an eye on him.

I heard bits and pieces about it before the show and after. I don't think anything would've happened but people were aware.

Sounds like he had added a couple of the students on Facebook (even though he didn't really "know" them) and then was asking several people about meeting Julia after. One of the walkie-talkie girl was asking the students if they actually knew him and it sounds like they were gonna ask Julia about it to.

I heard him talking to his friend while in line to get in and he said something about seeing her in Wicked in NYC, among other stuff. He'd keep steering conversation back to her.

I will say at the end of the night when Julia was talking to Courtney she said "Creepy guy gave me a folder for you" and pointed to the person that had it at the moment. She also said something about "running interference," which Julia thanked her for.

From what I could tell, everything was handled well. So that's something.

LJ is made of fail right now so I'll go manually check messages.

And yes, getting answers to something while listening to an audio is always enlightening and helpful instead of trying to guess what's actually happening.

Great post! I haven't listened to the Saturday concert. But it does sound better from Friday night. I was going to ask you if you talked to her Friday night since I left right after the show but I guess not. I'm glad you got to say hi on saturday.

That was a creepy situation with that guy. Glad she had some buffer from those kids. They love her but then again who wouldn't?

Had I waited, I probably would've caught her in th downstairs lobby Friday but 15 minutes was my limit. At that point I driven almost six hours and still had a couple ahead of me. I wanted to go home and sleep. lol

Since you are Julia's penguin, I am doing the Happy Feet dance! Thanks for being our eyes and ears. It was almost like being in Kalazoo, with out the cold. I know she appreciated it that you were there both nights. I did the same for Evita and in Ventura. She knows we are not crazies but just want to support her in her art.
That creepy dude ruins it for all of us.
You are a bona fide one of the 27.THNX

"Julia's penguin." lol Funny ... yet kinda true. :)

Also, I added to you the filter for the souvenirs from the concerts if they haven't been passed along to you already.

Thanks for the review! Sounds like you had a lot of fun! I hope that one day I'll be able to attend one of her concerts as well..
And I'm proud to say: The female cat and I share a name! ;-) How did your dad come up with Claudia? It's not the most common name for a cat... But I like it! :)

Claudia and Johnny are both shelter cats, meaning they came with their names and my parents didn't choose them.
