I just got home from seeing The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and it was, hands down, the most fun I've had at the theatre in a long, long time. The show was absolutely amazing! I laughed so much my belly actually ached. I didn't realize how topical the content was and how much of it would be changed for each city.
I signed up to be a speller and thought I might get picked because of my random occupation but no luck. The audience guy that lasted longest did, however, get the "final" word right and they had to give him another, way harder one to get him off stage.
What I thought was going to be a super second-row seat, turned out to be a fantastic front-row seat. Dead center. I ended up with popcorn in my lap from Chip. Not to mention I had Miss Peretti walk right in front of me with the trophy. Unbelievable. The show's coming to Akron during the 2008-2009 season and I'm definitely gonna pick up tickets for it. Maybe for both the Friday and Saturday shows.
I had my recorder with me, of course, but the show didn't record ... and that pisses me off. I know I hit the record button and I swear I saw the red light go on, but something obviously went awry. Oh well. It happens.
