stealing candy from a baby

So, the Indians lost ... again. 0-2. They were down 0-1 going into the top of the ninth, meaning there was a glimmer of hope. Then they brought in Betancourt to close the final out. Yeah. He gave up a homerun.

Losing game beside the point, I had a great batting practice experience. On the down side, it was Royals batting practice instead of the Indians, but that's okay. I don't know why the Royals were on the field when the gates opened instead of the Tribe but whatever.

So I was standing along the third base line. I was in the aisle to give myself some extra room seeing as there were kids crowding in between the railing and the seats. Any time one of the Royals snagged a ball, the kids would call for them to throw it to them. Eventually one of the infielders did so. (I got his picture but since their practice jerseys had no numbers, it'll take some detective work to identify him.) He tossed the ball to the kids in front of it. It hit the rubberized warning track "dirt" and bounced ... over the kids' heads. One of them tipped it with his glove and it landed square in my hands. Score!

Gotta say the kids were disappointed and a dad kinda gave me an evil look but I sure as hell wasn't giving it to one of them. Sorry, but that's how the cookie crumbles. I happened to be in just the right place.
