I met circafox and fritzywolf in 2005, shortly after they'd started dating, when we were all living in the Chicago area. By the time I moved to SLC in 2007, we'd become very close. Heh, yeah, that does seem a bit awkward. ^^ 'Matrimony' did originally mean 'Motherhood Ceremony', after all. Ah well, words can and do change their meanings over time, so I suppose the definition of 'epithalamium' can be regarded as fluid, as well.
BTW, congrats on tying the knot, yourself!
