If I sing her name a lot.  If I say someone else's name, she lets me know I r doin it rong.  She is a kitty who knows what's right.    This is what's right:

I see by your outfit that you are a Gracie
With green eyes so pretty and black fur so long
And you like it when I sing Gracie a whole lot
Even when you don't know the words to the song

Oh Gracie, ( Read more... )

My old kitty Spike (she liked going camping with me) had a dozen different songs with her name in it. When Wilbur came to live with us and I started doing Wilbur songs, she was very. fucking. upset. I'd be mid-song and she'd come up to me with a very concerned look on her face and wouldn't relax til I sang a Spike song ("SpikerOOO. SpikerAAAA. SpikerOO SpikerOO SpikerAAAH" was one. Another one was to the tune of YMCA). I hadn't realized til then how much she loved her Spike songs.

Most of the Wilbur songs revolve around driving in the car. He gets all wound up if I'm singing them, even if we're already in the car. Car songs perk an ordinary ride right the hell up.

if you met Wilbur, you'd see that the line between human and non- is only a slight detail.

I came up with a brand new Sofia song just today, while I was getting ready for work:

Fuzzy kitty, yer the one
you make dressing lots of fun!
Fuzzy kitty I'm awfully fond of you!

Fuzzy kitty, yer for me
yer my fuzzy cup of tea (yuck!)
(I forgot the last line....)

Mostly though I just riff off of "Maria" from West Side Story... since her name is Sofia, it works.

"Sofia! I just saw/heard/smelled a cat named Sofia!" etc.

But yours are definitely much more creative. *g*

LOVE it!

Wilbur's new "In the Car" song was inspired by That1Guy. I sing it in a voice as close to his as I can get:

In the car, in the car
Mom and Wilbur in the car
Driving near, driving far
Mom and Wilbur in the car
To the studio we go
Yeah we go and go and go
Mama and the Wilbur in the car, in the car

He seems to like it. And I can change "studio" to other places.

to the tune of You Are My Sunshine:

You are my Wilbur, my gooby Wilbur
You make me happy when skies are gray
You'll never know dear
HOW MUCH I WANT TO BITE YOUR BUTT
Please don't take my Wilbur away

The "Fuzzy Kitty" song was to the tune of that old Sesame Street song "Rubber Ducky" (lol you should like that! *g*) but I didn't remember half of the words, so I just made stuff up. That's how I came up with "fuzzy cup of tea".... ;D )

Did Gracie really shut you up like that? That's awesome!

She was furious. Ur singing: DO NOT WANT!

I tried singing the Meow Mix song to her the other day. She purred. Her last owner came from a family of singers. I have a hard time believing it was the singing that pissed her off early in our relationship, so I'm guessing it was my accent in Cat.
