For Christmas this year my husband and I decided to get each other presents that don't cost anything (although he broke the rules and bought me Beedle the Bard as well as the two "textbooks" Rowling wrote for Comic Relief). So for my gift to him I wrote a slightly fictionalized account of the weekend we met, which was almost 6 years ago now. It's ( Read more... )

I really liked this! It made me laugh, but it was also very sweet. Sara was a very likable character. :)

(btw, something failed in the lj cut... not sure why, but on the first little section is under the cut.)

Thanks for the heads up about the lj cut ... I tried to fix it but I can't tell if it worked. I'm so LJ incompetant ... can you tell if it worked?

Re: movie - yes! Dunno when/where/what - let's check with Kiff.

I read this when you first posted and knew I should have commented then as I promptly got waylaid with Meta stuff and that Christmas thing!

Firstly, what a fabulous gift to give him, so full of memories for you both and yet I'm sure he learnt a lot he perhaps wasn't aware you were thinking at the time? I found the story of your meeting very moving, and I hope you don't mind me saying what struck me most forcibly was how deeply unhappy you were at the time. Yet it ends on such a note of hope and resolution, simply because you've met him.

I think you were very brave to post this, and I'm glad you did as I found it engrossing to read. Meeting Mr Gilpin was like one of those 'coming home/life suddenly makes some kind of sense moments' so I could relate to many parts of it myself. :)

Thank you for your kind and understanding comments! It was difficult to write but definitely worth it - for both him and me. Marriage can be difficult and sometimes it's a good exercise to reflect on why you got into it in the first place. :)
