I planted my first tree today. It feels monumental.*

Hello, pretty little cherry tree. I can see you out my front window. I hope you make beautiful blossoms this spring. I know that you won't make fruit for a couple years yet, and I'm okay with that. I still am really happy to have you in my life. Let's be friends for a long, long time. :0)

I have a Sitka spruce that's about the same age as my son. It's taller than the garage now.

I love that you picked a cherry tree. Is it a rainer cherry? That kind is my favorite. They smell so good when they blossom and the blossoms are white so, when they fall, it looks like it's snowing. :)

The first apple I plucked from my first planted tree was the absolute best(tm) I'd ever had. My dad couldn't agree, as he claimed that his first was the best. It's like that for those of us who like to grow things, I guess. ;)
