I totally agree with your last sentence.

That said, I actually thought (I heard a re-broadcast of the debate on MPR today) that McCain did more than hold his own. When it came down to having a real notion of how things worked in the world, he seemed to me to be head and shoulders above Obama, who lives mostly in some kind of odd theoretical world (which isn't surprising, as he's never in his life had a real job). Obama also came off as wooden and somewhat petulant.

That said, of course, I can't see myself voting for either one of them. But one of them will be president, come January, and for the life of me I don't think it'll make much difference which one.

I agree that it really won't make much of a difference which one, which is one of the reasons I'm voting for Obama. Moderate Dems who support him want someone non Bush so badly that it hurts. In the end, it doesn't matter. They're both the same, but a little better than the last cast of characters, at least.
