The party circut

Friday night, I went to a Home and Garden party at my friend's house. The consultant/party moderator who roped my friend into this party had some very good interactive games for us ladies to play. One of them involved taking a bonus card...my "bonus" was no tax on my order, and a PARTY! of My VERY Own, with her as the consultant ( Read more... )

extended family, charlotte, natalie, food, people annoy me, weekend

If I had one of those parties I would supply a large amount of wine. Hell with the sales pitches!

You know, I think that is what made it so enjoyable...the hors d'oeuvres, the wine, and the Coronas my friend served. I bet if we'd focused on drinking & eating, instead of sales pitchin', she'd have seen her sales double in that two hour span.

SWEET BONUS! *snort* Hey, that is a nice tureen! I used to work with a Pampered Chef gal and she was not overbearing at all. I appreciated that. Her sister was a Mary Kay gal and OMG the effing hounding we all got was over the top! So glad I left.

Anyway, I really like Pampered Chef rubber scrapers. They work great and last for ages. I just busted my last one and I'm ready for more. Not ready to go find someone to sell them to me, though. Heh heh.

I actually attended a pampered chef party last year. I really like their bamboo spoon sets much better than the wooden spoons I had from Target. Like night and day. And, their ice cream scoop is incomparable, IMO. I had their pizza stone til it was doused in soapy water, but you can get those anywhere.

I think if you just keep the pizza stone in the oven while you bake other things the soap eventually bakes out and you can use it again.

Aw, I threw it out on someone else's unsound advice. I have a target replacement now.

That's a lovely serving dish! I too do not respond well to tempting pitches -- in fact, I'm almost contrarian: the more glamorous the pitch, the more I dig in my heels. But you got an awesome serving pot out of it.

And I didn't have to pay tax on it!! (I did take her up on that half of the "bonus." :D )

That is a nice bowl. I've never seen that company around here though.

I did attend a tastefully simple party (mostly food). It was fun and I bought some stuff. One of the drawbacks to the direct selling industry is that if you don't sell consumable things (food, cosmetics, candles) it limits your repeat business - just how many Tupperware things can you have, realistically?

They also sell some food with Home and Garden Party:

I picked up a pack of the chiptole dip, and tried some of the BLT dip they had with the food. Very good, but not as exciting as my bean pot.
My coworker's wife is a Tastefully Simple rep. He had her catalog in our lunchroom a few weeks back. I was tempted to buy something because I really like this gal. But, you and me both will be deluged with fund raisers and various options next year with school so I don't want to lock into any more sales or fund raising relationships, yanno?
