I just had the strangest urge to eat flan. Like right now. That's not exactly a convenience dessert. It's not like I can take two cups of a milk, a packet of instant flan mix, and come up with caramelized deliciousness in under ten minutes ( Read more... )

I think I tried it when I worked there at the turn of the decade and it was okay, though I've never had real flan to compare it to and that was my first and only experience with the fake stuff. I prefer savory foods.

I don't think Wal-Mart flan can compare to real, homemade custard-y and caramel-y goodness.

We actually do have instant flan here. I keep a stash of assorted pudding on hand at all times... love pudding like nobody's business. I make it with skim - I know soupy - but it's ok warm and not so naughty.
