Will there be leftovers that last for days? Christmas lunch or dinner is the traditional Australian day for over-large meals that take a lot of work to prepare. I think I'll visit my parents for Christmas this year.

Oh yeah. There is tons of turkey left. I think I had one plateful and stated to the whole table that I was full. The leftovers include, but are not limited to: turkey, crescent rolls, cherrypie, creamcheese braided bread, stuffing and mashed potatoes.

Most Americans are expected to have large Christmas dinners as well, though nothing in comparison to Turkey Day, aka, Thanksgiving. This year, we're having finger foods for Xmas.

I hope your Christmas with the folks is fun and enjoyable ^_^

I'm not quite a traditional Australia in this respect - my cultural heritage is north European, and the north European tradition is generally to celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve. So all of my life, my "real" Christmas celebration is the night before most Australians. It can work really well when couples visit families for Christmas. The north European ones on Christmas Eve and the traditional Australian on Christmas Day, so neither family gets to miss out. For me and hubby, the problem is geographical. My parents are a couple of hours drive from Brisbane and we don't have a car, so it's not feasible to visit like that.

*nods*

We're lucky to live so close to our family and yet so far from other family members, haha.
