"Who is Pope Benedict XVI?"

CNN.com - Pope visits Africa, reaffirms ban on condomsTo be indignant about this, I would first have to be surprised. I'm not, so I can't be. Just depressed. I have been shouting this same mantra for years; I was kind of hoping the new old white man in the Vatican would be a little more realistic in his approach to this subject. By keeping this same un-informed philosophy he is only proving that the old men in Rome have no idea what their congregation needs. Blind faith in a god is one thing...blind faith in man is delusional!

Yesterday when the news about this came over the radio, I was driving around with a friend that I regularly have theological... discussions with. I asked my friend, in essence, how it was even in the same neighborhood with okay for this guy, knowing that he will be listened to by the badly-educated, to say things like this that will directly cause people to die, as in die, the end, do not pass Go do not collect $200.

He said---not agreeing with it, but informing me of the Catholic doctrine as he knows it---that for Mr. Pope it's OK, because it does not matter that people die, this world being a preamble anyway.

Mass murder is OK, then. \begin{bland} Yay. \end{bland}

Hmm. I suppose if one accepted that premise, then a lot of things might make more sense.

Well, I got me some murderin' to do!

{/sarcasm} That brings to mind what I read about Aum Shinrikyo and their attack on the Tokyo subway back in 1995. Their leader, Asahara, had convinced the perpetrators that, by dumping sarin in the subways and killing people, they were actually helping all these people on their spiritual journeys. So yeah, if you start from a crazy premise you can get crazy answers....
