Remember a few days ago when Joe Biden was talking about Obama being "tested" as soon as he became President? A lot of people - myself included - wanted Joe to zip it. Right now is not the time to be planting the "Can Obama deal with a crisis?" idea in the minds of people who still aren't sure if they want to vote for him. McCain certainly jumped ( Read more... )

Ah, that seems to be because I somehow got into a non-public article. Or at least it was removed from public view.

Anyway, the article is about what I said: a high likelihood that the next president, whomever it may be, will face a quick and substantial crisis before his first year is out. Pretty much what Biden was saying....

Biden told a closed-door meeting of donors that, mark his words, within the first six months of his administration, Obama would face a catastrophic international crisis. That the world would test Obama. Biden got creamed on this because he used dramatic language and a dark tone to his voice. It was reported as a "See, even Biden thinks Obama can't handle the job."

The truth, historically, is that outside parties see the transition between administrations as a ripe time. Let's just say that some little birdies in some very important places have a gazillion plans setup for this. They have game played these things, options are already being mapped out so that the Next Guy doesn't have to play catch up. - Soulie
