You are correct. No one was paying attention. I was working in Medicare when he was elected the second time around....and several month into his second administration the old people were crying to me on the phone saying they never would have voted for him had they known....no one looks past the end of their own concerns around here....and it shows.

ps....loved that last turn of phrase.....I'll use it as soon as I find someone that fits it......won't bee too hard.

But, but, Kerry got Botox! And he didn't throw away his medals, which made it totally OK to call out his service, even though don't you dare mention that McCain perhaps trades on his POW status a wee much...

What bothers me is that there are deep, long-term damages done, that will most likely more than one administration to fix. Dubya made generation changes in how the executive branch operates. They didn't worry about the big, public stuff. They went right to where the roots of the departments run, and made the changes there.

So, President Obama is going to have his work cut out to just bring us close to neutral. I'd say his job will be to merely get us back to middle ground, fixing the foundations. Then whoever is next in eight years can start with the real fixing job. - Soulie
