I read this a while back. What stuck me the most was how it was such a product of its time. It wasn;t just the Cold War aspects either. Youi can see it was written when social sciences were being viewed as almost infinitely powerful, and the mind a blank slate capable of being molded into anything. Huh, bad metaphor. Still with that 50's idealism, but with a good dose of 60's psychobabble thrown in. I was very suprised when the remade it, couldn't see how it would translate to today. Never got around to seeing the remake, though...

Not a bad book, though, and yes, very quick.
