It seems like we can't get a moment of rest around here. Rest from tragedy that is, it's awful really. It is almost surreal, but I don't think any of us have the heart to be in denial about anything. I don't know why they even played that silly game today. There are much more important things that everyone in this school needs to be doing. We all ( Read more... )

This is the most sad celebration party I've ever been at. I tried to get them to forfeit, I really did. They just weren't interested.

There isn't much to celebrate. I know you did, I just think your cause might have been otherwise lost in your choice of words.

I didn't mean for it to come out like that!

Yesterday. We played you yesterday.

I thought we'd be more together. We weren't. Sorry.

That you did, I'm sorry for the mistake. Apparently I'm not much for being together either.

You have nothing to apologise for, it's okay.

Days are important, you know. They're road markers or something. It's another step or something.

Apparently, anyway.

It seems like, if we stopped everything every time someone died around here, we'd be standing still. It's horrid to say, but it's true. I guess i can understand why they didn't want to forfeit, really.

I know, it doesn't make it any easier though. No, we can't stand still, but everyone needs some time to collect their thoughts.

I know it can be hard to understand, Hermione, but even though horrible things happen, life goes on. That's why we played the Quidditch match. Going through the normal things in life helps a lot of people cope with tragedy, and I should know. If people had treated me differently and changed everything after what happened my first year, it would have been a lot harder to get through. Cancelling exams upset me a lot as it was, because that reminded me of what had happened. Letting life go on as normal gives people a way to begin to move on. It's hard for many people to understand, but it is really for the best.

Well of course it does, I don't expect them to stop with their lives because of this. I just think that in a lot of cases, when people take that road, they forget to grieve. That's the most important step in moving on. Although, I'm not about to tell anyone how they should be acting, everyone is different.

Everyone's grieving, but they have to be able to move on as well. The match was a bit soon after everything, though. I think it should have been postponed until the initial shock wore off, but Dumbledore obviously thought it was best for everything to continue as normal. He's been through more of this than any of us, so he knows better than we do.
