Lorelai was feeling a lot better today, actually able to stay awake for longer than thirty minute intervals, which meant she was mostly bored. She wanted to play with Bucky, but all he wanted to do was sleep, eat and dirty his diaper. She'd kind of forgotten how much newborn babies slept.

Sometime in the afternoon, after the hangover's worn off enough that she's willing to, you know, go anywhere, Jaye heads off to the hospital. And she makes sure to finish her coffee before going inside, because she's not that mean.

She knocks on the door really really quietly, in case anyone's sleeping, and because her head still kinda hurts.

"It's open," Lorelai calls quietly, because she just finished nursing Bucky and he's sort of dozing in her arms.

"He didn't feel little the other day," Lorelai says ruefully. She nods to a chair nearby. "Wanna hold him?"

Jaye almost says 'eek'. "I'd drop him normally. You don't want to see me holding someone wee and breakable when I'm short a couple hundred brain cells. I'll just 'eeeee!' at him from here."

Lorelai laughs. "It's pretty hard to break a baby," she says. "But that's okay, I have no problem being selfish. Why are you short a couple hundred brain cells?"

"I don't know. I'm trying the breastfeeding thing, which means no alcohol or caffeine or anything good still," Lorelai explains. "I'm not sure how long that will last though. I miss coffee."

She says that last bit rather plaintively with an expression some might reserve for statements like 'I miss my right arm' or something equally tragic.

Jaye feels a little bad about her earlier caffeine, but really, she needed it. "You can't even have a tiny bit? That's just wrong."

"The doctor says I can have it in moderation," Lorelai says. "But Luke says I don't know what moderation means when it comes to coffee so I'm not allowed to have it all."
