The boy wot lives in this house with me and I were just talking about our glory days, and how we used to go to live concerts all the time and how we don't do that anymore because ZOMG it's so expensive blah blah blah. So, of course, I went to youtube and started typing in the names of all the bands I can remember going to see. This is soley for ( Read more... )

You are such a groovy concert chick.

It's frightening, but if I worked out a percentage of how many we have been to in common, it would be very high.

Ha! I stopped clicking because I didn't want to be downloading many at once but can I just say Number 2? Seriously? Well you made it up with Baggy Trousers I guess.

I went through a Eurogliders phase. Hey, I was 17, what do you want from me?

Do you know them? Amazing song and I think this video is a masterpiece. Where are they now?

Oh, you.

God, I hated them.

Now I'll sing along if I hear one of their songs, but back then? Grrrrr.

I am the same as you when it comes to going to concerts; too tired, too expensive, too much hassle getting tickets, too far away or....... blah blah blah. I have seen some great stuff in my younger days (I missed a lot of stuff as well). Here are some of my favourite live acts.

Tom Waits
That man is entertainment!!!!!!! His band was great and his storytelling and performance is magical.

Patti Smith
She was a hero of mine when I grew up and when I saw her a few years ago I cried when she came on stage. At 50 something with grey hair she rocked like nothing I have ever seen before.

Neil Young
I have seen him live numerous times and he never disappoints. I love his very loud stuff but I adore his acoustic songs.

The Velvet Underground
The boyfriend is a big fan and when they did a one-off tour in 1993 he was scared to go because of the danger of disappointment. They were amazing.

Jeff Buckley
The best live act I have ever seen. His voice is out of this world and the concert I attended in my hometown is now legendary.

May he RIP.
Best concert I have ever been. His voice, especially live, was amazing.

I can't even work my way through the whole list because I keep stopping and saying "Oh, Locomotion! I forgot all about that song!!" and then I'm off to iTunes (because I'm a lamer who believes in paying full price for everything), and then I remember three other OMD songs and I have to get those too. Repeat x10. You're costing me a lot of money today, missy!

Oooops. Soooorreeee.

What OMD songs did you get?

Oh, Locomotion, of course, been singing that sucker all day long. Enola Gay (that song has helped me with many a trivia question over the years), Electricity, and couldn't pass up If You Leave. They didn't have the Madness songs I wanted so I went to Amazon and bought a Best of Madness-type CD. Also saw Turning Japanese by the Vapours on some list and had to have that too. I'd like to *facepalm* but I'm having too much fun.
*Sings and Pogos*
