A question?

Mar 23, 2008 22:31

I make a point of trying to reply to any feedback that people are kind enough to leave on my stories. It doesn't always work out that way, though, as I discovered this evening when scrolling back through some of the older fic entries on my LJ. I've missed, like, a lotAs my icon says - Oops ( Read more... )

writing, feedback, oops, fanfic

I had a bunch of comments that I had to let go-due to just not being able to keep up. I'd let them go ;-P After about 2 months of being so behind I did this on the older comments/entries. I still keep up with the current and they know I'm not dead or mad at them-lol. But do what works the best for you ;-)

Oooh, there's Boo! *squishes your icon*

I'm in two minds about the old comments - they're so lovely and supportive, I feel like a heel for not replying to them. Some of them are from people I rarely see around anymore, and that makes it worse for some reason.

I get to see Boo in 2 hours(so excited!)!
I know-my journal sorta blew up and got huge? And I got sick around November and the replies suffered ;( And the more I tried to catch up-the worse it got-lol. I wrote a disabled post about it-saying how bad I felt, but finally decided I needed to let it go. But there's no law saying you have to-you can go back and comment-and explain a bit what happed ;-) If it's from people you don't get to chat with much-that might be best ;) They might be surprised but you might feel better for it at least? I wish you well with what you do decide!

I don't know how you keep up with *your* LJ, my dear. And now you have a picspam LJ too, you mad woman. *g*

I'll see how I go - I'm going to have to take some time off work when we move house, so maybe I'll find solace from the unpacking in comment-answering, lol!

How uncannily like me!! I do try my best to reply to all comments and comments to comments but it really does get away from me sometimes! I at least try to read them all though because it would be very rude not to, right?

So what I'm saying is yeah, replying eighteen months later isn't quite the thing, is it?

But oooh! the guilt! :(

Anyway, Happy Easter, sweetheart.

Hehe!! We even have the icon to cover this!!

The worst part is that I don't even know why I didn't reply to them! I obviously meant to, but I must have got busy and just lost track of them. I was looking at Chapter Two of Safe House tonight, you see, and there are a heap of wonderful comments that I didn't answer, and I feel like a heel.

Oh, and one of them was from YOU, lol!

In which case you have my total forgiveness, sweetheart.

Hope that helps! :)

I think I'm a serial offender at this. I just tended to a bunch of friend requests (some were over 6 months old) last week and it was just a tad awkward ( ... )

Yes, I completely agree about the selective commenting. I see that on LJ sometimes, and it's the definition of rude. And so snobbish!

A lot of the times the different timezones are against me. I have no LJ access during the day Mon-Friday, so by the time I get home and log on after dinner (around 7pm), I'm already way behind. It's hard to carry on conversations with people on LJ during the week, because sometimes it takes up to 12 hours for me to reply to them, lol!

It's only selective replying that irks me because that's when it's implied that the person values someone else's opinion over yours.

Yes, well, that's just incredibly immature, IMHO. You don't want to talk to anyone who's not on your personal flist, then lock the damned post.

I think if the guilt is bothering you, then go ahead and reply. Otherwise it will drive you crazy! You're always so good with replying anyway, I'm sure the few you've forgotten will forgive you and know you just got sidetracked. Don't worry!

I was raised Catholic - guilt is one of the things I do best, lol!

My thoughts...don't go back. That's too overwhelming. For the first few months I was on LJ, I didn't even realize I should reply to feedback. So rude! I cringe now. But I never checked back after I posted. Half the time, I didn't even realize I HAD feedback. Ugh. And it bothers me too, but I just don't have time to work backward.

Take it easier on yourself, dear, k? *squishes you*

And you posted Linc/Vee! Yay!

I know how *I* feel when someone seems to reply to people all around me but not to me, so I would hate to have made someone else feel the same. It wasn't intentional, but it's so easy to take these things that way.

Did you not have your email notifications turned on back then, darling? *pinches your cheek*

Oh, who knows! I was in LJ la-la land for a long time. I try not to think of all the people who must have thought I was a world-class bitch for not replying. I reply to everything now, as soon as I can, to make up for it!
