Oh, very clever, kangaroo boy.

Twenty-four hours ago, I sat down at my desk at work and, as I usually do in the fifteen minutes or so before I'm due to actually 'clock on', I drank my coffee and checked the news online. And a few seconds later, I read that Heath Ledger had died of a suspected drug overdose ( Read more... )

I've been an emotional wreck since 3:15 PST yesterday. And yes, I loved him even more for naming his daughter Matilda, it's so... fitting, both for the book and the song/ er anthem As I said in Candy's thread, when I heard about it, I thought it was a hoax like Paul Macartney in the late '60s, and then I read more details, and I crumbled. It's just, yes, senseless, and stupid, and wasteful, and sad. I cried a lot yesterday, for him, and for his family, and well... for other personal reasons that have nothing to do with Heath, yesterday just all around SUCKED.

RIP.

Beautiful post. It's been a day since the news broke here and I still can't shake it.

Oh man, LJ just ate my whole comment. Sighs. Anyway, like foxriver_lady , I first heard about this through your email, which I was glad to get. I turned right away to hubby, and told him, and we were both shocked. He worked as a manager at a video store back when Heath first came on the scene (the American scene, anyway), and we were always quite proud of ourselves for knowing who he was and able to recommend his films. Of course, his "unknown" status lasted about a minute, because he was great, and I can't think of a film of his since that I haven't liked.

Oh, and Irwin. That hit me hard, too. Such a waste.

"...because his death is such a senseless waste, so stupid and pointless and foolish."

That's exactly how I feel about it.

Wow, I'm glad you wrote this. It makes it even heavier now that I understand what he meant for you guys, he wasn't just another cute Hollywood actor. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this.

Overall, I think it's very tragic and very ironic - wasn't he like a ray of light, with his huge smile and his blond hair?

:o(
