I saw this and I immediately thought of dburr . If you look for user "vmred" on YouTube you can see more of this ongoing saga of a misunderstood Coca-Cola vending machine trying to survive amidst the crowds of vending machines in Japan.

Personal note. I made fun of one of the original Birdman cartoons a few years ago at Dragon*Con. I don't know when it was made, so I can't claim plagiarism, but an episode of Harvey Birdman did the same, using the same show I mocked, "Mentok the Mind-Taker," and using some of my same jokes.
Now, Williams Street has tried some live-action stuff before. They had guys, or fans, wearing Aqua Teen outfits at Comic-Con. They've shot promos with a Master Shake guy-in-costume walking through a park.
Most recently, about four months ago, they had "Saul Malone" (Josh Gardner) of Saul of the Mole Men appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live, along with a "Mole Man." I wish I had taped this show, because it was so nauseatingly awful. Kimmel was condescending and snide (as if his own comedy was that much better, feh!) and Gardner didn't know how to react with a live audience instead of a chroma-key camera.
