Nailed it...if they had gone verbal that is LOL. That is exactly the problem....Buffy kept getting left behind. Angelus didn't mess her over but ANGEL sure did (and every guy after except Spike and Xander...even Giles in the end). Your note is dead on too....she convinced herself of many things for a time at least...self protection of a different kind (a mind/heart condom).

Nice! Glad you still have Spuffy moments. I am stuck there mostly because HE so clearly loved her that I just can't put him with anyone else as long as 1. He wants Buffy and 2. She is still alive or hasn't been dead for long...it just doesn't ring true to me with as Spike/Other in those cases (okay....pre series with Dru too).

Honestly, I was inspired from the "unfinished lines" thread on BSV, and it'd been plaguing me what could have happened if Spike was allowed to finish, lol.
