Cause I need to know.

Getting ready to get out of here and go see "The Dark Knight Rises," but this has been bugging me for the last few days.

I don't care who you ship or who's your favorite character or whatever--no judgement here.  What I do want to know, however, is in the poll below.  The poll can only be viewed by me, but please share it because I want as many ( Read more... )

spike, buffy, spuffy?, s6, poll

This whole thing has been bugging me since last night. Especially one comment regarding the deleted Smashed ending, and the commenter said Buffy was a passive recipent to what was happening and some garbage about her 'agency.'

Excuse me, but I've watched the video numerous times and Buffy is the one doing all the work while Spike just lays there and can't believe it's actually happening.

I'm not sure Mark is the demon some have made him out to be - he is annoying and an inveterate attention-seeker - but his minions are a bit cray-cray (please don't ban me for mocking their mental health).

Interesting how this has ignited the shipper wars all over again, or is it the Spike wars?

Bangels have no soap box to stand on.

Souled Angel beat Buffy and Satsu into an infirmary in Season 8 comics and then there's... glowhypnol. (And then he murdered Giles, but that's a slightly different animal). Angel knowingly beat the shit out of Buffy for his plan.

No, they don't, and although I only read a small portion of the first page of comments, I didn't see any pro-Bangel stuff. It's more Spike bashing (which could, in all probability, be the Bangels).

I checked off "no" for the fourth question, though I do think that there are definitely times when it's okay- if the person is threatening you verbally and capable of doing something about it (to your knowledge), for one. I think it's more complicated than ~there is never an excuse for a violent response~, I guess.

In the Smashed scene, I don't necessarily think it reflects very well on Buffy that she punches Spike because he annoys her. But I'd also say that violence is very different when you're both super-powered, and it's more like a painful poke than anything really damaging. "Beats" is not the word to use in Buffy context (unless we get into repeated attacks where one person isn't fighting back, like Dead Things).

So, for the last one, I don't think people ever "have it coming", but there are situations where a provacatuer probably shouldn't be surprised that it happens. "Have it coming" and "see it coming" are two different things, though.

Oh, and have another poll to look at:

Yes, I do think that Buffy was victimized by Spike in "Smashed" because he was stalking her.

ps-I'm not going to debate this with anyone. So if you reply to me, do not expect an answer.
