So...I saw this on F!S, and was lead to this link, which bashes Sesame Street and unifying people in spite of differences.  I mean...dude, it's Sesame Street.

No, it's not a joke.

"Appalled" does not even begin to cover how I feel about this.

wtf, major fail

Egads, that is something else! I mean, Sesame Street? I guess maybe I am not understanding the beliefs of the people commenting, being not American, but really? So I'll only comment on one aspect of this thing which likely has a billion things to discuss...

This is a show aimed at children. Children, who are easily afraid of things and people that are "different" than what they know. If you want to promote acceptance/tolerance of different cultures and people (and in the long run, is that a bad thing?) then you first have to show how they are the same, to take away that fear or whatever. I guess I just don't see how that's a problem!

THIS comment all the way.

I think in some skewed way, the point he was trying to make is that there are a ton of people who are viewed as being unequal as adults, which is true, but my god, does that mean we should teach that message to the upcoming generations? Maybe by saying we're all fair and equal to youth will change those prejudicial perceptions!

But then hey--there's nothing better than standing still. Or even better, to move backwards and away from progress :/
