There's this excellent quote by JGL about Arthur in the Inception wiki article "as fastidious and professional as he is, Arthur didn’t want to apply his organizational skills to
. . . any of the things he could have been because sharing dreams is fascinating. It’s not just a job for him . . . it’s not the money he’s doing it for. He wouldn’t risk his life for a good paycheck. He loves it.”
I read that after I wrote this, but it really rang true in terms of how I see Arthur.
As for Ariadne, I identify with her (perhaps too much) since I, too, am an architecture student. Writing her felt a lot like writing about myself; in fact, the scars on her hands are actually based off some of my own, haha.
"Rich and strange" - I'm immensely flattered. I wanted to mimic that sort of disorientation from the movie and reflect the massive, meticulous detail they included; I'm happy it translated well ( ... )

I love the understated intimacy of little secrets/rituals within a relationship (romantic or otherwise); it seemed especially appropriate for these two, I think, since I see Arthur as very reserved and nuanced.
I'm very flattered that, from what you've said, this comes across as more "show" than "tell."

I've never thought myself to be all that poetic, but I'm happy you consider this lyrical :]

(Thankfully, that file has been MIA for a long time.)
I'm honored that you consider this "beautiful" ♥.
I love and am charmed by your description of it as "sliding down a sheet of silk," both for the alliteration (:D) and for the sense of luxury and fluidity it evokes.
I'm also really pleased that they feel true to heart!
