I don't think I'd use baking soda. We have a ceramic top and most of the time I just wipe it down when it cools. I haven't had a problem.

How fun!!

We're getting a new set for the house, albeit not a self-cleaning convection snazzy thing like you, but still a ceramic top at least. :)

I got a hell of a good deal on it. I mean *really* good. $800, if you can believe it. I also went for snazzy because I bake all of our bread. We bake bread or buns about 2-3 times per week, so it really makes sense for us to have convection. And self-clean, well that was non-negotiable. Especially with pie season starting up. :)

So plain water, eh? Does that work on sauces and whatnot? What about anything sticking to it?

adam's mom says she always just wipes it down while it's still warm-ish, and very rarely does anything stick to it. lucky you!!

Excellent. Thanks.

Yeah, I know I'm lucky. OTOH, not so lucky to have needed to replace the other. But lucky to be able to get a nice new one. :)

funny you say that. EVERY apartment i've lived in has had a new stove, seriously. at least in the last ten years. i have had like four new stoves, lol. the condo came with one (in black), and i thought i'd be excited about it, but it's tough to keep the damn thing clean and dust free. it shows EVERYTHING.

Yeah, black is a bad idea in most things. If I were replacing my entire set, I'd go stainless steel. But since the fridge and dishwasher are fairly new, I didn't figure I'd be able to replace them before maybe wanting to sell (*way* down the road), and people are weird about matching appliances.

I've never had a new stove until now. It's so nifty. :) I made bread and brownies yesterday. I'm doing crumpets and pizza today. *grin*
