Title: More Than Improv Can Give
Fandom: Whose Line UK
Pairing: Tony/Greg (kind-of), Ryan/Colin
Rating: PG-ish. A couple of instances of very British swearing, that's about it.
Summary: Improv is all very well, but it's no replacement for the real thing.
Disclaimer: This fic is in no way intended to portray a true representation of the people involved. As far as I know, this never happened.
Notes: Inspired by a picture posted by
taversham of F&TS from episode 5.04 - a sculptor (Tony) and his model (Greg). The pic in question has been iconed for it is LOVE.

More Than Improv Can Give
It was Film and Theatre Styles. One of the many games that forced the performers into all sorts of compromising positions. He ought to be used to it by now, but it still astounded Tony what madness the audience could come up with. It probably didn't help that he had taken to tuning out the period when everyone would shout out suggestions, so that he only knew what he was facing when Clive buzzed and gave the theme.
He had been partnered with Greg for this one. No real surprise there since the other contestants were Ryan and Colin, who were partnered so often it was more of a surprise when they weren't. Tony liked Greg - they shared a similarly sharp, sarcastic sense of humour, though Greg's delivery was generally more controlled. They played well off each other; though not as intuitive with each other as Ryan and Colin, they managed to do a decent job of whatever game they were faced with.
The scene was Sculptor and Model. It had started off well enough, until the first of the buzzers sounded and Clive gave them the style of "Tennessee Williams". Undaunted, the actors played up to the brutal sexuality often found in Williams' work as Tony pulled Greg close to him in his role as male aggressor.
It was then that something occurred to Tony, a thought so out of the blue that he was surprised he managed to keep it together and not throw off the game. As he held onto Greg, he tried to think of the last time he'd had this much physical contact with another person. Not in an improv kind of way, that didn't really count - not unless you were Ryan and Colin, which he very definitely wasn't. But physical contact outside of work - how long had it been since he had been granted such a thing? It wasn't even a sexual thing, just a realisation of how distant he was to other people in day to day life.
The buzzer sounded. Tony fought against the urge to tighten his grip on the other man, hoping that the next theme would follow on in a way that allowed them to stay like this.
"Okay, let's...let's try a bit of Blossom."
What the bloody hell was that? Tony figured it was an American thing; one of the more difficult aspects of having multiple nationalities on the show was the differences in culture, both popular and otherwise. He waited for Greg to speak, knowing that the American did not exactly shy away from addressing such difficulties.
"Well I am a thirteen year old girl coming of age."
Bollocks! He had to let go, had to pull away from the man who had made him feel so peaceful, had given him a glimpse of what was missing from his life. He tried to hide his disappointment as he and Greg continued with the scene, forcing his mind to focus on the fact that he was at work, and was supposed to be entertaining the audience, not his own thoughts.

They were on a break from filming. Tony was stood alone in a corner of the Green Room, watching not unhappily as Ryan and Colin teased each other, admiring the absolute honesty and intimacy in their every move. They always seemed happiest when they were together, and it reflected in their improv.
The train of thought was broken as he felt strong arms wrap around him. His first instinct was to move away, but whoever had hold of him wasn't letting go so easily.
"You're a silly, proud man."
Tony managed to pull back enough so that he could turn his head and look at the man who had spoken. Greg's expression showed no sign of emotion, as if his statement had been nothing more or less than simple fact.
"Greg, I..."
"Shut up."
Though Greg's tone held no real threat, Tony was instantly silenced anyway. He felt the American's hold on him tighten slightly, but it no longer bothered him.
Unable to hide the mild amusement in his voice, Greg continued, "What are you, too proud to admit you need a hug now and again?"
"Permission to answer?" Tony asked wryly.
"Permission granted," Greg replied in an equally dry tone.
"I didn't think it was the done thing to run around begging hugs from your fellow actors."
"Well, how about I make it easy for you?" Greg couldn't help but press a gentle kiss to the top of the other man's head. "You ever feel you need one, you come straight to me, you hear?"
Tony swallowed gently, not sure he wanted to betray how much the sentiment meant to him. Forcing his voice to work, he softly replied, "Thank you. I'll bear that in mind."
Greg raised an eyebrow. "What, that's it? No witty comeback? Have I found your weak spot?"
Tony's response was all too quick. "What weak spot?"
Greg lowered his voice, the teasing tone gone as he promised, "I won't tell, and I won't abuse. You're a good friend to me, Tony, and I wouldn't do that to you."
"Not interrupting anything, are we?"
At Ryan's voice, Tony and Greg both looked up. Greg released his grip to allow Tony to move away as the Brit replied, "You really think we'd tell you?"
"We were just doing a replay of before," Greg supplied. "Tony was feeling left out of all the fun of being groped."
"Well why didn't you say? I'm sure we could've worked something out." Colin grinned. "It's not as if it's hard to do on this show."
"Alright, just because you two are so head over heels that you keep going once the cameras have stopped rolling." Tony smirked at the blush that crept onto Ryan and Colin's faces. "Some of us have to make the most of what the show gives us."
Almost as if on cue, the call went out for filming to resume. As Ryan and Colin moved to comply, Greg gently grabbed Tony's wrist to stop him from following.
Tony looked up, not having time to be confused before he was pulled into a big bear hug. He allowed himself to get lost in the hug, cherishing the peace it brought him, and the reassurance that at least someone on the show saw him as more than just a fellow performer. He struggled not to vocalise his disappointment when Greg finally pulled away.
Greg locked eyes with Tony, sensing the unspoken emotion. "Any time. Remember that."
"Hey."
The sudden new voice made both men look up, causing Clive to comment, "Hate to break up this beautiful scene, but we have a show to film."
As Greg and Tony moved to follow Clive back out onto set, Greg shot a reassuring smile at his friend. Tony returned the smile, feeling more secure in himself than he had in a long while.
Any time. From Greg, it seemed sincere. It was clear that Greg saw the parts of Tony that the Brit usually tried to hide. Well, there was no hiding anymore. Not from Greg, not now he knew how futile that was. So he may as well make the most of it.
As they reached the set, Tony whispered, "What are you doing later?"
Greg gave him a knowing smile. As they reached Tony's chair and the Brit sat down, the American replied, "Anything you want."
